Unexpected

Spring Breeze

The still-cold winter breeze swept Touka's bare neck, reminding her that Kaneki had left. She hadn't noticed before that day, but while he had stayed she started to love him too.

*flashback*
"Hinami, I'll come back, okay? Please don't cry. Touka, everyone, please, stay safe from the doves... and I'll come back at spring...." the silence between the boy and the others had been cold like the day he had left. Nobody knew, but the one who had been sniffling wasn't only Hinami-
It was Touka too.
*flashback over*
"I'll remember you until you come back... please remember me too." she whispered to the cold wind, and she saw Kaneki and spread out her arm to try to catch the Kaneki only she could see, leaving. Tears dropped from her eyes and he disappeared.
"No... no... please don't leave, Ken..." she sniffled and tore up in the empty park, with only the birds chirping and her sniffling being the only sound.

"May I take your order?" Touka politely asked the customer.

"One americano, please."

'Americano...? Kaneki liked them... why did he have to leave?' The memories and pieces of him came together, and Touka struggled to remain calm and brew the coffee.

~Kaneki POV~
I'm sorry, I had to leave... I'd save Anteiku from getting destroyed even if I have to leave or even die... it's all for you.

He sat on the chair in the secret place he found and quietly sipped his coffee he had brewed before leaving.

I can still see her and only her... she was beautiful.

~3 months later~

"Spring has begun!" the cherry blossoms seemed to be telling the people. Other flowers all joined in the announcement of the start of spring, and everyone in the cafe was welcoming it happily except for one--

Touka.

She went on a walk to the park where Kaneki had left, and found something weird. There was a single trace of footprints leading to the empty metal box on the side of the park. Someone shouldn't live there normally, but it seemed like someone was.

She went up to the entrance and opened the door. To her surprise, she found a tall teenager boy with a giant hole in his torso, regenerating but very slowly. 'Who is this...? It is a ghoul, maybe I should help him..'
She quietly approached him, and the boy opened his eyes slowly. His eyes looked worn out but shone when they saw her. It felt like something hit the back of Touka's head- she finally realized, it was the Kaneki she longed for so long. Not even thinking, she pushed him into the bed and kissed him on the lips. His lips, soft but cold, felt like ice against Touka's ones, hot and wet from the tears she was now wetting Kaneki's face with. She finally let go, and told him to wait there.

"Hinami!!" Touka called her the loudest she had ever, and Hinami, surprised, came quickly and got the first aid kit with Touka as requested.

They arrived where Kaneki was quicker than they thought they could, and Kaneki winced as Hinami sprayed antibacterial liquid on the hole over and over until they ran out. As Kaneki ate some food and some of Touka's flesh, regeneration was working pretty fast so that they didn't have to worry anymore. As they were about to leave, Kaneki grabbed Touka's wrist, and she turned back at him, startled.
"Please stay..." he whispered, and at that, Touka realized he was cold and lonely from the long time he was gone for. She at that snuggled into the blanket with Kaneki and hugged him until he fell asleep. She too fell asleep feeding herself gummies.

Touka woke up the next morning just to find Kaneki fast asleep next to her, looking as if he had hardly slept for the last 3 months, with dark circles underneath his eyes proving it. He looked like an angel in his sleep, and his scar was mended completely like nothing had ever happened.
'I should go get some food before he wakes up- he shouldn't be tortured to starve anymore.'

Kaneki ate the food Touka had brought very quickly, as if he wasn't even eating half of what he was supposed to during the last few months. Nearly all Anteiku folks came to see him, and soon they moved almost all the things he had to Kaneki's room in the cafe.

When they were at the cafe, Yoriko asked, "Are you guys together, Touka?" and the girl flushed red, and screamed a "N-no! Who on Earth that has a proper brain will date him?!". However, Kaneki just answered with a kiss on her cheek which made everyone in the cafe go "OOOOOOOHHHHHHH!" while Touka just ran away to the safe room of hers upstairs.
