Its been 4 years sense the accident that caused me to be mute the doctor said i'd be mute forever
At first i didnt mind then my dad left us he said i was a disgrace because i couldnt speak than my mother fell ill
She had a rare cancer that couldnt be treated she died a few months after
I silently cried everyday after that i was only 13
I wen't to live with my aunt and her boyfriend in orlando florida don't get me wrong i loved my aunt but she wasnt the motherly type hell she was only 19 at the time
Her boyfriend ended up getting her pregnant than left her she would cry but she never gave up the baby she learned sign lauguage with me so it was easyer to speak to me (sign 'text' ''speak'')

Today is my first day of highschool sense me and my aunt moved to miami no one knows me here maybe i'll fit in a little more
I put my naturally straight hair in a messy bun threw on an outfit than put on my black combat boots and walked to school
The highschool was only a mile away so that was good and it made it easy for me to walk when i got to school everyone stared at me
Did they already know?
Were they just curious?
I guess i'd have to find out the hard way

After i got a peice of paper with my classes on it from the office i walked to my first class which was american history
After 4th period (algrabra) it was lunch time the school was small so everyone had lunch at the same time i sat alone untill a girl came up to me and said
"Hey i'm Grace and you are?" She asked holding out her hand
Forgetting she probably didnt sign i said
Hey i'm haylie nice to meet you
She looked at me confused and i face palmed than i took out my phone and typed
'Sorry i said hey i'm haylie nice to meet you'
Oohh she mouthed
"Deaf or mute?" She asked
'Mute' i typed
"Cool i don't think this schools ever had a mute kid before so you're a first wonna be friends?"
I was shocked by her words she wanted to be my friend?
I typed
'You want to be my friend? Why? Im mute tho'
"Being mute doesnt mean i can't be you're friend you seem cool plus you looked like you could use a friend"she said
'So you want to be my friend out of pity??'
"No no no thats so not what ment" she face palmed than continued "to be honest i don't have many friends and you seemed like you needed one and you seem cool as im talking to you"
'Oh ok well thanks ig wonna sit with me?' I asked
"Yeah sure mind if i call my one and only other friend over?"
I shrugged 'sure'
"Cool'' she waved over a girl with light blonde hair "this is camile" grace said
"Hey you're the new girl uh..." camile said
"Her names haylie and shes mute" grace answerd for me
"Awsome" said camile

I found out i had almost all my classes with either camile or grace which was great considering they were my only friends camile knew sign lauguage too which made it easyer to talk to her

After school i walked home after picking up levi (my aunts little kid) from day care he told me all about his day i mostly his own languge but i at least knew it had something to do with his day care hes almost four years old now hes pretty advanced other than speach he knew how to read pretty well sense it was one of the only ways i could speak to him he referd to me as his big sister which i liked it made my life at my aunts feel like a little more of a normal life rather than hey my parents are dead so i live with my aunt and nephew
(Crule joke im not being serious by the way)

The next day was friday (i started school on a thursday)
I put on some black ankle boots a black tank top  faded ripped blue jeans and a grey cardigan sweater that wen't down to my knees i put my straightnd hair in a braid that went over my shoulder than walked to school when i heard a
Beep Beep
I looked to see camile in her car
"Hey haylie want a ride to school" she asked
Sure
I signed and got in the car
"Soo out of curiosity do you want to go shopping with me and grace on saterday?" She asked
I used a speach app so she didnt have to watch me sign sure
"Great by the way im paying for you're stuff" she said happily (by this time we were at school)
But why you don't have to pay for my stuff
She shrugged and said
"I want to my family is pretty well off and you just moved here so no offense but you probably don't have the money to buy that much stuff"
She wasnt wrong
Okey i guess
Than we walked to my first class that she happend to have too she sat beside me and we passed notes talking about tomorrow untill the bell rang

After lunch i had 5th period alone and i was late so i pretty much ran than ran into a wall because i was rushing to get to class
At least i thought it was a wall...
