Chapter 6

Secrets And Lies

I grinned as I nibbled on a cookie, while listen to Cass's explanation of what muggles did on Halloween. Spencer was listening to, but not as enthusiastically, his attention was on the Hufflepuffle table. I tried to see who he was looking at, but there were to many people to tell who exactly it was. He often did this during supper, but when ever I questioned him about it, he would wave off my question. I knew he was lying though because his hair and eyes would go as pink as his cheeks.

I cut out another piece of pie as I went back to listening to Cass, but as I set it on my plate, the doors of the great hall flew open and Quirrell ran in. " Troll." He screamed at the top of his lungs causing everyone to turn and look up. " Troll in the dungeon."

The whole room went silent and Dumledore stood up, seconds before Quirrell suddenly collapsed to the ground in a heap. Everyone began to panic and go for the door, but Dumbledore calmed them and sent everyone back to their dormitories, while he and the other teachers went to deal with the troll. " Come on, Emrys, let's go fight a troll." Cass whispered to me as we made our way to the dungeons with everyone else and I rolled my eyes at her. I swear, sometimes she acted more like a Gryffindor then a Slytherin.

Spencer seemed to share that thought, cause we both hooked our arms through her's to make sure she didn't go running off to get herself in trouble. " Oh, you guys are no fun." She complained and we both laughed at her attitude and practically dragged her back to the common room.

The next morning, Cass smacked me awake with a pillow to tell me that Harry, Ron and Hermione had gone after the troll. " We could have helped." Cass said we sat next to Jackie, who stared at us in confusion, obviously lost on this subject. " Cass wanted to go after the troll, so she's annoyed that we didn't get to even see it." Spencer explained and Jackie went back to her eggs with nod of understanding.

Today was the first Quidditch game of the season, so everyone would be down at the pitch. I didn't want to go, but I went anyway to support Harry. Spencer changed appearance to support slytherin, so his hair was a dazzling silver while his eyes had gone a dark emerald color.

The game was going fine, until Harry's new broom started to act funny. Cass giggled a little at the sight of him, and I gave her a look, causing her to raise an eyebrow in response." What?" She questioned. When Harry managed to get back on his broom, she made a face and sat back down noise of disdain. The game ended when Harry fell off his broom and nearly swallowed the snitch.

I was doing my homework for DADA and Potions, when Hermione sat across from me looking like she wanted to say something." Hermione, what do you want?" I asked as I finished my essay for Snape.

" Have you ever heard of someone named Nicolas Flamel?" She asked, speaking so fast that I almost didn't understand what was saying. Of course I did, but I wasn't going to tell her for no reason. " Why?"

" Curiosity." She said, her eyes not meeting mine. She was lying.

" Sorry, never heard of him." I lied as I closed my books and started to put my stuff away. I was on my out of the library, when I spotted Spencer talking with a boy from Hufflepuff. As soon as he saw me he stepped away from the boy, his hair turning bright pink as he did. Interesting.
