'Do you, for an instant, realize what you have done is extremely wrong?' Veronica's voice was ice-cold. The room was cold and the blazing fire of the cinder seemed incapable of heating the room up. Leon was sitting across his mother who was trying to be calm but failing every moment. Last night was horrible. Elaina's parents had to leave embarrassingly as Leon directly refused their proposal. Veronica could not talk to him that night because she, too, was shocked as hell. The next morning, Leon left for his university and Veronica couldn't gather herself up. It was evening when Leon returned home to find his mother waiting for him in the living room.

As the question popped out from her mouth, Leon could understand he was in deep trouble. He would be flooded with questions and his answers would not be accepted. Still he waited patiently to hear what his mom had to say because she too deserved explanations. She had also been dreaming of a wonderful wedding of her only son.

'You know Elaina for 20 plus years and you know very well what a bond your dad and Colonel Ozden held. You also knew how much this marriage meant to me, your dad. Then how could you do that? Insult all of us? Leon, i don't want your silence. I want answers. Please, speak up' Veronica was anxious.  'Mom, i had let you know earlier that i'm not ready to marry yet. It was you who wanted to hurry. I don't want to marry Elaina and that's exactly what i said last night,' Leon told everything in a single breath. 'But why? what is wrong with her?' Veronica couldn't understand her son. 'She is just a friend mom and she will always be. I cannot marry Elaina. I don't love her', Leon couldn't be clear enough.  'And your dad's wish? That doesn't have any importance to you? Veronica asked impatiently. 'Dad will be more humiliated if i accept this relationship, mom', Leon answered straightly. Veronica paused for a moment. she was searching for words to tell but not a single thing she could think of. Leon walked to his mom and held her hands. 'Mom, do you trust me?' he asked softly. 'I trust you more than myself, my child' her eyes were teary. 'Then please don't force me on anything. i know you have been humiliated but that was not intentional.' Leon kissed her hands and stood up to walk to his room. As he was near the door about to leave the room, Veronica intruded, 'Are you in love with someone?'

'Hilal, her name's Hilal,' replied Leon without any unnecessary pause.
