Mia's POV
Mom: hey, Resa's up and awake. Baby girl is doing okay, still the crucial period but we have faith. Bennett fam here in full force.
Mia: Colt, Park?
Mom: just Park, you know him and Resa are buddies. LJ and Colt up in Maine still with the kids, your dad and Park are keeping Jonah company. How is Sailor?
Mia: I'll be there in a few hours, even sooner, with two more girls maybe. Sailor's good, she'll love to see Park. Okay, I'll talk to you later. Keep me updated please on Res and lil girl! Love you all!
Mom: We love YOU, sweetie
I put my phone down and turn back to the three girls across me at the dining room table. They're all coloring, Sailor and Winnie keeping their conversations going. In the last six or seven hours they've spent together, they've gone through everything from fruits to middle names to boats. Yes, a wide variety of topics.
"Franny likes Dragon Tales," I listen as Winnie reaches for a pink crayon to color a dog coloring page. She's creative.
"I don't know what that is." Sailor says as she colors her frog green. She's within the box.
"It's old. Aunt Glory showed it to Franny. Right, Franny?" Little Franny Fallon nods her head once as she reaches for a black crayon to scribble with. She doesn't care what she's doing.
"We usually just read. My Aunt Resa loves to read. Mama, what is Aunt Resa? She's a.... anteater?"
"Author, Sails. A published author."
Oh. Have I told you that? Teresa Cook Bennett has published three books in her thirty years of life. All fiction, all romance, two of the three have made it to the New York Times bestseller list. Proud is an understatement.
Anyways, you can probably tell why Sailor is reading teen fiction at four years old, she takes after her aunt.
I hope Resa's little girl turns out just like Resa.
"Hey, Mia?"
"Yes, Winnie?" I focus my attention back to the girls. Winnie looks at me with big brown eyes that look a lot like her dad's.
"Can we go somewhere today?"
"Where do you want to go, Winnie? We could go to the park if you'd like? Or we could go get some frozen yogurt, maybe?" I watch the two older girls exchange looks.
"We want to go see the new baby." Sailor pipes up.
"Oh, I don't know Sails. We can go later when Jimmy gets home."
"But don't you want to go now?" Winnie asks me, pushing away her pink dog.
"Uh-"
"You should be there," Winnie chastises me as she folds her hands in front of her.
"Really? You think so?"
"I mean, we don't even know the baby's middle name yet! Or first name!"
"That is a good point. But Winnie, I don't think It's wise to take you girls to a hospital..."
"Why not?"
"Uh-" I say just as the front door opens and the sound of shoes clink on the dark wood floor. I feel my eyes grow wide in fear but slowly shrink as I realize who it is by Winnie's cheers.
"Aunt Glory!!" She yells as both she and Franny hop out of their chairs to run to their aunt.
Gloria Fallon stands tall, strong and confident. Her brown hair falls in waves around her face, a pair of dark-rimmed glasses covering her face. She wears skinny jeans and a button-down silk shirt and a pair of heels that I know I would fall in if I tried to wear them.
