P.O.V : Liliana
It had been two weeks since the dance was brought up to Sal. In those two weeks, I noticed a difference in his behavior. He began to grow slightly distant and more irritable whenever our small group would meet up. I was beginning to worry about him, I tried multiple times to figure out what the problem was, but each time he shot my questioning down.
One thing didn't change though. We walked back to the apartments every Friday, just the two of us. Larry had art club and Todd was always filling his time with extracurricular opportunities at school. The famous Ash, that the boys would bring up, I suppose moved away before I moved in. She's suppose to be moving back soon and I would be lying if I didn't say that I felt some relief by gaining another girl to our group.
Every Friday, Sal and I would watch cheesy movies or try to one up each other in video games. I cherished Friday's, Sal had easily become my best friend over the past couple of months. It was finally last period and I was suppose to meet with Sal at the school gate when my English teacher asked me to spare a moment.
"I'm sorry to bother you Lily! But do you think you could help me carry these extra text books?" Ms. Cortez, was easily my favorite teacher. She was sweet and extremely considerate to all of her students. The round teacher gave me a small pleading look and I quickly took half the stack of text books from her hands.
"Of course, where to?"
Moving the textbooks to another classroom took up only ten minutes and I quickly slid my arms into my winter coat. I rustled into my back pack and pulled out my new item. I had been wandering around downtown this weekend and found a small comic book shop. The bored looking middle aged man, barely spared me a passing glance until I began fawning over a collection.
It was a goofy comic series of a man who killed zombies in a stylish fashion. It was completely absurd, which is what held it's charm. I bought it without a second thought and now looking down at the funny looking cover, I was to damn excited to share it with Sal.
I knew he would appreciate it.
I hugged the comic to my chest and stormed out of the school. I ran the hallways until I made it out the front entrance. Kids gave me side glances as I busted out the front doors. I eyed the front gate and still saw no sign of blue hair, maybe he got caught up as well.
Light snow dusted the usual cement and kids talked while walking home. I parked myself in my usual spot, next to the hinge of the gate. I stood and looked around as my hands tightened on my comic. My smile never ceased as I grew more anxious to read the story I bought.
All in good time Liliana.
I hummed as more minutes passed. I could feet slight snow begin to build on my shoulders. I brushed it off and looked around. Fewer students were now on campus and a slight worried feeling, erupted in my chest.
Sal always makes it on time. He told me every Friday was reserved for us, if I knew anything about Sal Fisher, it was that he always kept his word. So I stood my ground as thirty minutes passed.
My feet ached from the cold and from standing so still. I stretched them out slightly as I felt my bottom lip quiver from the cold. At this point there was only a group of students left and myself. I looked around until I felt a hand grip my shoulder tightly. I spun around and was met with Evan Matthew's grinning face.
"Well hey there beautiful"
I averted my gaze and felt his tight grip slightly alarming. He had asked me out of no where to be his date for this winter dance. I was flattered since most girls clung to him but I couldn't really get past how mean he use to be with Sal. My weakness was how no matter how hard I tried, I couldn't be mean. I was a 'Yes' man at heart. There was only a few times where I've ever said no to someone and it was extreme situations.
