P.O.V : Liliana

Before I knew it, a month went by. Meghan never again came into my dreams and I was back to the ones with my mother. Each night, I would look at the bed with dread. I would find things to keep me entertained as long as my eyes could stay open, but before I knew it, I would be reliving the memory within seconds.

Larry, Sal and I; became closer and although at night it was like a hellish nightmare, during the day it was everything I had wanted. Sal and I would visit Meghan every so often, but I could see the young spirit looking duller and duller. She would appear before us, frantically scouting the room before starting up conversation. Fear was a constant in her glossy eyes.

Sal would voice his concerns to me and I would have to act as if I had no idea. I wanted to help Meghan but I didn't know how. If I told Sal what was going on, Meghan would be severely pissed at me. If she was right and he decided to seek this beast, he could possibly get hurt. Either way, someone was bound to get hurt.

I let a sigh out as I sat at the cafeteria table, I poked the nasty sandwich and Larry eyed me from across the table. "You good?"

My head lifted up quickly and I tossed on a small fake smile, "Yeah I'm alright. Just exams.." I glanced over at the lunch line and saw Sal and Todd, waiting for food. Out of habit, I began taping my finger on the edge of the table nervously. The boys knew my nervous ticks as well as I now knew Sal's body language and the double meanings behind Larry's words.

Larry gave me a raised eyebrow and a soft sigh. "Why don't you and I take a walk across the courtyard"

He began to sit up and I knew better than anyone, that he wasn't asking me. I left the untouched meal on the table and slid out of my seat. Sal had just placed his tray next to Larry's when he looked between the two of us with confusion.

"Is everything alright?" His blue eyes filled with slight concern. Todd readjusted his glasses and eyed us carefully.

"Yeah, we're just going for a walk. We'll be right back." Larry slung his arm around my shoulders and I began to fiddle with the end of my sleeve. He guided me out the cafeteria doors and into a large hallway, filled with lockers. His eyes were heavily trained out the big windows along the hallway. Silence filled the space between us and I stared at my worn down shoes.

"We don't have to go outside, but you need to at least fill me in on what's been going on with you. I know we haven't been friends for that long, but you can come to us with anything. We all have our personal baggage that we have to deal with. The difference is, we have people that we can lean on, we can share that personal shit with. Don't forget, you now have people too."

I stopped walking and looked over at him with wide eyes. I had felt empty since my mother left me. The loneliness had slowly been consuming me and his words filled me with warmth. I felt my eyes fill with tears that I thought I didn't have anymore. A small sob reached past my lips and Larry's eyes widened.

I felt a genuine small smile reach my lips "Alright"

Larry scratched the back of his head as his cheeks heated up a bit.

We heard footsteps stop and we both turned to see Sal and Todd a couple feet behind him. His eyes looked from Larry's red cheeks to my tear stained face and confusion filled his eyes.

"Is..Everything alright?"

I quickly rubbed my eyes with the ends of my sleeves and I smiled. "Yeah, everything's just fine."
