Chapter 13

Aiden's POV

Here was Hailey, snuggled into my arms comfortably. She had a baby like smile on her lips. She looked content. I have no clue what's happening to me. She is like a magnet, I instantly get drawn to her. I knew at the back of my mind that this wasn't how it should go. She isn't supposed to be here.

Just as I was deep in my thoughts, I felt her shifting in my arms. I noticed a strand of hair on her face troubling her sleep. I quickly put the strand behind her ear and moved closer to her face . I pecked her forehead lightly. I felt something churn in my stomach. This feeling was alien to me . I hardly ever cared for someone so deeply. But with Hailey Smith,everything goes haywire. Her smile, her innocence , her cute blush , her hazel orbs ,everything just everything. Damn, I sound like a love sick puppy.

But I can't help myself. When I saw her today , dressed in a simple crop top and jeans ,my mind blew away. Never have I ever seen someone looking so hot in a crop top. She had all the curves in all the right places. Her top stopped right above her belly button ,exposing her bare skin. She was looking hot yet stunning. I honestly couldn't utter a word at that time. Hailey Smith was definitely driving me crazy.

Hailey's POV

My phone beeped.

I opened my eyes and tried to shift to pick up the phone. But I felt my waist in an iron grip. I looked up at Aiden's face. His eyes were closed , he looked deep in slumber. I tried to relive his strong arm from my waist. But his arms were too strong .

"Cupcake?" I heard him murmur.

"Yes" I said lowly.

"Aiden I have to leave..can you please drop me home...it's late...and Jake's messaging me continuously." I pleaded.

"Yeah....I'll drop you ." He said getting up.

The ride back home was smooth. Aiden seemed unusually quiet. I tried striking a conversation but it ended up dying eventually. I gave up eventually.I got down from his bike as my house neared.

"Thanks for the ride...today was pretty amazing." I said as I started to move towards my house .But I was pulled back by a force from my arm.

" Hailey...I got to tell you something"I heard Aiden say almost in a whisper.

"Yeah..." I turned towards him

"Hailey.. I.." he looked very nervous. He looked down and took a deep breath.

"Yes Aiden..." I said looking at him expectantly . I didnt know what exactly he was going to say .But damn, I was nervous .

"I wanted to say ...sorry" he said gulping.

"What? Why?" I asked confused.

"Sorry for being so cold towards you on this ride. I was so drowned in my thoughts that kept ignoring you. So ...sorry." he confessed.

"Awww..that's so cute.."I said as I pinched his cheeks.

He looked a little offended and taken aback by my action but smiled anyway.

"Yeah..whatever.." he said

"I didnt know you were such a deep thinker Aiden,..and just by the way, I had heard Aiden Clayton never apologises..." I said before being cut

"Yeah..never...but you definitely are an exception ." He said looking into my eyes intently.

I stared back at him . Something about the way he said those words made me believe them. His words had so much sincerity that I couldn't doubt it.

"Hailes..." I heard a faint voice calling me. I immediately turned to see a figure approaching me. I knew this who this was. I made Aiden leave immediately .

The figure of my brother approached slowly towards me. As he neared ,I could now see his face clearly.

"Where were you? You know it's not safe to be here out on your own at this hour. And why aren't you picking my calls. You're seriously getting out of hand.."Jake ranted.

"You're not my father Jake. So relax. I can take care of myself."I snapped.

"Yeah fine, then you get into trouble and put me in stress..when are you going to grow old sister"he murmured as we reached our house.

"When you grow a second head" I joked.

Jake always worried alot about me. Not that I complained,but sometimes I wanted my space. Especially in this scenario, when I cant tell him where I have been .More specifically, with whom I have been.

I reached my room and hopped on to my bed . Today was amazing.Aiden had set up a perfect date and been sweet and amazing. His apology at the end was too cute. I couldn't believe that the guy everyone says is a hard nut to crack was so soft from inside. Everyone said he was a ruthless jock who only cared about himself. Even my brother hated him with a passion. But , to me , he has been noting but a chocolate cake. He has been sweet, charming, witty and also my saviour. God, am I falling for him?

Next day (in school)

"Still lost in prince Charming's thoughts?"Kate teased.

"Hmm....No! What are you saying?" I said trying to cover up my reddening cheeks.

"Cut the crap..tell me...did you guys kiss?" She asked excited.

"Kiss!? What . No. Certainly not!" I said.

"Seriously. You slept in his arms but dint kiss!? Such a wimp you are. What about him. Did he even try to kiss?" She asked shocked.

"No." I said

"Wow. You guys have great control on your hormones , I must say." She said.

"Haileeeeeeyyy" I heard someone calling me out. It was Cole. He was running towards me.

"I need to tell you something important " he said trying to catch his breath.

"Yeah say.." I said.

"You are in deep...u need to listen to me...."he murmured as he fell on the floor

"Cole!" I screamed as I knelt down . I called for help and we took him to the medical room. I was shocked.The way Cole fell on the floor right in front of my eyes was scary. He was about to say something when he fell . What was it that he wanted to tell me?

I couldn't concentrate in my classes. What happened to Cole was terrifying and i couldn't sway the thoughts away. I immediately rushed to the medical room as soon as the bell rang .

"Uh....where's Cole? " I asked the nurse as I entered.

"Oh..you're his friend right. We had to shift him to a bigger hospital. We weren't able to get him into his senses. We have informed his parents. You can visit him in that hospital if you want." She said

"Shit. " I murmured. I hope Cole is okay. He looked tensed when he ran towards me.

"Hailes.." I heard Jake's voice.

"Jake..did you hear about Cole? " J asked immediately.

"Yeah I did...I'm visiting him after school. You want to come?"he asked.

"Yes of course ! "I said .

The entire time the question of what Cole wanted to tell me was haunting my mind. And wat happened to him suddenly was a question unanswered. I hope the doctors have an answer.
