Chapter 10

What did he mean by that?

This guy always leaves me puzzled.
"Hailes" I heard Jake enter.
"I made the payment,and I haven't informed mom yet. If I did we both would be grounded for leaving the house at odd hours."

"Yeah I know,Jakie" I replied .

"By the way, what made you sneak out this late for a party.You aren't a party person. " He eyed me suspiciously.

"So what , I can always become the party person. " I replied cool-ly.

"Fool someone else sis, I have known you for practically my entire life."

I made a face at him. He knows me too much. Ughhh.

I suddenly remembered Aiden was around.

"Jake, where's Aiden?" I asked hoping he wouldn't kill me.

"He left."

"Huh" I was disappointed. He left without saying a goodbye.

The nurse entered and helped me remove all the pipes and helped me get on my feet.

"You can take her home, she's almost fine. We'll give you the discharge papers" she said before leaving.

"Jake, how did you pay for the bills. I'm sure it must have cost a lot" I enquired.

"Nothing much, I paid from my 6 months savings , just to save you and me from getting grounded. By the way, you're repaying me later." He said with a straight face.

"Yeah asshole" I replied.

We sneaked in our house. Kate was awake. Luckily my mom was still asleep and I was safe.
I saw Kate wide awake and narrated her the entire story. She looked worried . But I don't remember much of our conversation after that, because I fell into deep sleep.

Few hours more and it was bright daylight outside the window. My alarm was ringing and it meant we had to leave for school. Going to school everyday sucks. There's nothing exciting about it. The same old teachers, same old people. My highschool was a typical highschool with a gang of hot boys who were arrogant and slept around , a queen bee (read it as bitch) ,and nerds who feared socialising. Now the question is where did I fit in this? Well, I'm the character who is generally the sidekick for all books. The averagely popular girl. Not too popular but not completely anti-social. Just the normal average girl. Neither did I excel in sports nor was I a bookworm.

I got ready for school and tossed over some of my clothes to Kate to change into. Kate dint go home, well, I dint let her. Her parents are out of town and I don't want her to stay alone in that place.

"Good Morning honey"my mom greeted me with a kiss on my cheek.

"Morning mom".

I stuffed some bread in my mouth before leaving since Jake was continuously pressing the horn of the car signalling me to make it faster. He's an asshole that way. Since I don't know to drive, whenever I'm late he irritates me with the horn noise. Brothers, I tell u.

School sucks. Yeah I know I'm saying it for the millionth time today, but seriously it does. As soon as I step out of my car , there are these group of girls displaying there boobs to my brother and this group of guys giving my brother jealous looks. And I'm somewhere in the shadows with Kate. It just sucks.

"Kate" I said pulling her hand, "lets go to our locker"

"No wait" Jake said.

"What?" I askefd.

"Kate's coming with me" Jake declared.
"With you? Where?" What does he mean.
"I..uhmm...I am going with him for football practice" Kate said in a low voice.
"Football practice? But don't you hate sports Kate?" I asked still confused.
"Uhm..not anymore , Jake said he's teaching me football so I can get into the girls team". Kate said making her eyes lower.
"Oh . Okay , fine I guess I am alone then" I said feeling a little down as my best friend wouldn't be with me probably the entire day or so. School sucks even more now.

My first hour was Maths. Great. This is an amazing start to the day. Just what I needed. Note the sarcasm.

I hardly spoke to anyone in this class except Kate and Cole.

"I heard you had a concussion-like thing yesterday. Are you fine now?" I heard Cole's voice behind me . Cole usually sits behind me in Maths.

"Not concussion exactly, but yeah you can say that. I'm fine now.Thanks for asking"I replied.

"But what exactly happened?" He whispered.

"I have no clue"

Our conversation eventually died. Thank God for that , Mr Thomas our Maths teacher would have lost his shit if he caught us talking.

Kate wasn't back yet. It was lunch break and I missed her to death. But more than that I was now in a dilemma of life and death. Should I sit alone and pretend to be a loner or join Cole and his friends which was my usual table, since, that is my usual place with Jake and Kate being . But today what should I say? 'Hey guys, so my bestie is away and since I don't have wanna appear like a loner , can u entertain my presence for some time' No . Shit. That sounds pathetic.
Chuck it. I'm better off alone. Trust me guys, school sucks .

My school was finally over and it was time to return home, my favourite time of the day. I was waiting for Jake patiently since thirty minutes. But that asshole , dint have the audacity to turn up. I don't even know what happened to Kate . She ditched me completely . Do they even remember I exist?

It's been an hour now.

I guess I would have to walk now. I groaned internally. This has to be the most crappiest days . Everything went wrong after my best friend disappeared. I am seriously not forgiving them for ditching me this way . If they think they can do this and get away , they dont..."Wohhhhhhhhhhhh. Press the break woman!!" I heard some guy's voice. I turned back . A bike was speeding towards the tree, and it had a girl riding it, and the guy was behind her giving instructions.

"Ouchh..." The girl said while the guy bent over her and took control of the bike from behind. The bike eventually stopped. That was scary.

"You" the guy said poiniting his finger towards her "are certainly not riding this ever again."

Shit I know this voice.

Butterflies errupted in my stomach as soon as I took a clear look at his face. He was the guy who made my tummy churn.

Aiden Clayton.

But his crystal blue eyes were burning with rage. He was throwing daggers at the girl.

But who was this girl? And why was he sitting behind her on a bike.
