Chapter 5

I scurried around my room frantically for an outfit that would impress Elliot. I couldn't fathom the reason that I was trying to impress him but I was. I finally decided to wear a black dress that was comfortable but stylish. I let out a soft sigh as I looked at myself in my stand up mirror. The scar's that sat jagged on my left calf was like a knife to the heart. I thought about my mother alot, but this only added to the way I missed her. Maria stepped into my room and smiled, her pink teddy and bunny slippers made her look adorable but sophisticated in a way only we could understand. I picked up my bag, slipped on my heels and looked at her.

"Nervous?" She asked and I nodded before sitting on my bed. "What if...What if I make a fool of myself, or im over dressed?" I asked and watched her smile widen until she was giggling uncontrollably. "Your going to meet a "Friend" not a god" I laughed softly and stood "Your right Maria, thank you" She nodded and pushed me out the door.

I stepped onto the wet grass of the park only to have my heart sink, a sign was posted just outside the path that read "We're sorry for the inconvinience but the carnival will no longer be here, please call the number below to find out more information" I kicked a rock and couldn't help but cuss slightly I was early though, thank goodness. I turned to look behind me and all that I could see was Craig's Automotive center and Micole Jerrick Clothing and Accesories. I walked towards Craig's and greeted the car salesman with a smile before looking at the shiny cars. I knew I had to buy myself a car due to the fact taxi's were getting way to expensive. I spotted a Nissan 350Z and smiled the pearl white paint was just my style, I thought hard before a salesman walked over and tapped me on the shoulder.

"Are you looking for a fast car because this is definatly one you may be interested in" I nodded and smiled trying not to convey my excitement. "Ummm...can you hold this car for a few day's?" He nodded and pointed toward the office "Yes of course we just have to talk to the manager and sign some paper's" We bothed walked to the office quickly.

"Hey Travis we've got a girl here who wants to put a car on hold" I heard a deep but familiar voice before my suspicion's were answered. Travis stepped from the office and stopped dead in his track's to stare at me. I smiled softly at him and looked around "So you work here huh?" He nodded and looked to the salesman "I'll take care of this" The saleman nodded and stepped out the door.

"Wow you look..." He began to say before I blushed bashfully.

"Thank you, I'm waiting for Elliot" Travis smiled softly but I could tell that something was wrong, before I could answer he pulled out a sheet of paper and handed that and and a clip board to me. I let out a long sigh filled it out and handed it back.

"So your a car sales manager?" He chuckled and nodded before tugging on his suit pants and jacket. He looked completly different than what I was used to, more sleek.

After some small talk Travis lead me outside and there I saw him, Elliot was leaning against a royal blue camaro an nice button up dress shirt hung well on him and his hair was slicked back to make him look sophisticated. I smiled and waved, he starred at me with a smile as I stepped up to him. Travis followed quietly before smacking his cousin's back softly.

"Oh you know Travis?" Elliot asked confused, I nodded as did Travis. Elliot smiled and opened my door for me allowing me into his vehicle. Travis leaned into the window and smiled "Don't forget to pay and pick up your car by friday" I nodded while Elliot got into the car, turned it on, and sped off.

Elliot had already made reservations at a restraunt near the town square since the carnival was now a miss. I let out a soft giggle as we stepped through the door's of the luxurious resturant. Believe me I have money but as a family we believed in keeping it simple. We sat quietly at the table and ordered our drinks and food. Elliot made conversation by telling me about his art and all of the things he liked to do. I told him my likes, what I was going to school for and why. Before long we had finished our meal and were laughing at cheesy jokes that we both couldn't tell right. Elliot's phone began to ring and by the way that he looked at it, he wasn't pleased as to who it was.

"Hello?....What?... Yes I understand i'll be there as soon as I can....no that's something we'll have to talk about later" His smile had now faded and his eye's were stone, I shrunk back against my chair and let out a sigh. Elliot stood and apologized before helping me up and paying the bill.Stepping out into the lot we came to his car both of us obviously unhappy, and stepped in. His car roared to life as we drove out of the parking lot and towards the school.

"I'm so sorry Darcy....I have alot to attend to" He said sadly starring straight ahead. I looked out the window, and let out a sigh before looking at him with a smile.

"It's alright Elliot, we still have the art show right?" He looked at me with a friendly smile and nodded before pulling into the student parking lot. I shuffled out of the car and onto the sidewalk, watching Elliot's tail light's dissapear onto the street and away from my lonely form.
