There's a problem with my bed: it's so damn comfortable. I know it doesn't sound like a problem, but it is. I have to do work, but I figured that I'd sleep in late today. At least, that's what I thought I would do.
My plans changed when my phone rang. With my face buried in my pillows, I swiped to accept the call, putting it on speaker.
"What do you want?"
"Haley, it's Neal." I lifted my head, my brows furrowing together.
"Neal? What time is it?"
"A little after 8," I groaned and buried my face back into my pillows. It was too early. I wanted another two hours. "I hate to ask but I need a favor."
"Alright, why don't you come over? I'll make us some coffee."
"What?"
I lifted my head and repeated myself. "Okay. Come over and I'll make us some coffee."
"Okay, thanks Hales." I hung up and stretched my arms and legs. I got up and threw my hair into a ponytail, quickly brushing my teeth. I rubbed my eyes, eventually walking over to the door and unlocking it. I made my way over to the coffee maker and turned it on.
As I grabbed two mugs out of the cabinet, there was a knock at the door.
"It's open!" The door opens, revealing Neal. "You're dressed awfully nice for a Saturday morning."
He closes the door, letting out a sigh. "I have to go into work today."
I pulled out a chair at the kitchen table, putting both cups of coffee onto the table. "So how can I help you?"
Neal's hands move from behind his back, a thick packet of paper falling down onto the table. "Mozzie and I came up with a contract for the FBI, basically stating that when I take down the Pink Panthers, I get my anklet off."
"You had Mozzie write a contract?" Neal simply shrugged his shoulders.
"Easier and cheaper than going to an actual legal team, I guess." He had a point. "Anyway, I know that you and your dad have a background in law. I was wondering if you could look it over and see if there were any loopholes. I want to make sure that there's no way the FBI could deny it." I take a sip of my coffee, pulling the contract closer to me. I glanced over the first few pages, everything seeming pretty good so far.
"Yeah, I can look it over with him and I can bring it to you later."
"That would be great." I looked up quickly, his bright, sparkly blue eyes looking at me. I hate that I always turn bright red when he looks at me, I can feel my cheeks burning up.
"Oh! I have a new book for you to read. I know you aren't reading a lot because of the case, but I figured that after you could." I got up and made my way over to my bookshelf, scanning it to find the book I was looking for.
"You have a good collection of books here." He says, his arm resting on the bookshelf. I jumped slightly, not expecting him to follow me.
"Found it!" I exclaimed, turning around. "You can investigate as you go." I handed him the book, watching as he skimmed the pages.
"I'm guessing that's what all these colored tabs are..."
"Yeah, even with them, I wasn't expecting the ending. There's a new twist every chapter."
"I'll be sure to get to it." I bit my bottom lip a little bit, grinning.
"Good." A comfortable silence took over for a minute before he spoke, his towering figure looking down at mine.
