I woke up around 9:30 Sunday morning. It was early for me, but I woke up naturally compared to the obnoxious alarm. I grabbed my phone, looking through all the notifications I've missed.
Mom❤️: Your sister and her husband are coming up this weekend! They've missed you!
Savannah🤗: Did you see the close game last night? ⚾️
Neal💘: Morning!
I scrolled through my music, putting on something to wake me up a little more. I got into the kitchen and thought about the week ahead of me. Neal and I were going back to work this week and I couldn't be more excited. An idea popped into my mind, so I texted him.
Are you in the mood for some celebratory pancakes?
Going back to work was a big deal for me, I wasn't sure if Neal felt the same. I knew he was bored, I was starting to get bored and I typically don't mind staying in. My phone buzzed.
How could I say no to pancakes? 🥞
I grinned, unlocking the front door as I got everything together. I hooked my phone up to the speaker, and put my phone by it.
The door opened and closed, Neal coming into view as he walked into the kitchen.
"Morning." He greeted. Whenever I saw Neal, I couldn't help but smile. It was almost like a natural reflex. It was something I couldn't hide.
"Good morning. Ready to go back to work tomorrow?"
Neal groaned and sat down. "So ready. There's been nothing to do." I turned around and chuckled.
"You make fun of my reading habit but I haven't been that bored."
"What was this book about?"
"Ted Bundy."
"Seriously?" I flipped a pancake once more before putting it on a plate.
"I could be reading about physics or fake romance. Come on, you're telling me you're not the least bit interested about him?" I put the plate onto the table, turning off the stove. "I think you forget that my students rather learn about them than the law. So, if I can incorporate something that they're fascinated about, why not?"
"Fair enough."
"So our pizza date for Saturday might have to be postponed." I told him, grabbing some mugs for coffee.
