Hawkins, Indiana. August 2nd '88

El and Richie talked when Eddie suddenly said that he needed to use the restroom. Mike watched as Eddie looked at him and tilted his head towards mikes room.

A minute after Eddie left mike said something about needing his watch from him room.

"Jesus what took you so long?" Eddie whispered.

"Why did you want to talk?" Mike asked ignoring eddies question.

"You have a girlfriend?!" Eddie whisper shouted angrily.

"Had."

"Same difference. Why would you do that to me? Why would you say all this stuff about liking me when you were with someone?"

"I'm gonna be completely honest, Eddie. I totally fucking forgot that we were dating until she showed up this morning. I was so into you that all my worries about her disappeared." Mike said, reaching to grab eddies hands. Eddie pulled his hands away harshly.

"Bullshit. Just so you know, when I say i hate you today, I won't be pretending." And with that Eddie left the room and ran down the stairs to chat with the other teens. Mike sighed and sat on his bed with his head in his hands.

"How do I mess up so bad when I'm in love with people?"

Mike came downstairs as he fastened his watch onto his dainty pale wrist. He looked up to see Eddies small glare followed by him scooting closer to Richie. Mike rolled his eyes and sat on the couch. Richie sat there watching the situation play out and automatically knew something was up.

Someone fucked up, bad. He thought about el and how mike could've very likely not told Eddie that they'd been dating. The yellow phone on the wall began to ring and Rich basically sprinted to it just to be away from the situation in the living room.

"Yellooo!" He yelled as soon as he'd picked it up.

"Hey Richie!" It was the voice of Beverly marsh.

"So max and I had a sleep over last night and I told the other boys to come to mikes in twenty minutes, that's okay, yeah?" She asked

"For-for sure bev! See ya sooooon!"

"Wait, uh-" he began to whisper. "Could you please come as soon as possible. For my sake. Mike and Eddie are seriously glaring at each other and I don't want a cat fight when no adults are here." At this, the red headed girl laughed out.

"For sure rich, we'll be there in ten?" He
nodded furiously and then answered with

"Yes please! Thank youuu! I love you bevvie!!" He then made a kiss noise and hung up, going back to his place on the couch.

El also seemed to notice the glaring but assumed that the two just didn't get along. Eddie finally got up from his spot and began downstairs.

"Where are you going Ed's?" Richie asked.

"Gonna get some comfy clothes on. Want me to make some hot cocoa?"

El and Richie nodded and thanked him. He put the kettle on the stove and watched patiently as the water began to boil and bubble. He was quiet as the others talked amongst themselves although the talking seemed awkward and like nobody wanted to say the wrong thing to set someone off.

Eddie poured the hot water into three mugs and added the chocolate powder, adding a little bit of sugar and mixing it, topping it off with marshmallows. As Eddie picked up the two warm mugs for el and Richie he looked out the window and saw the pouring rain. It was very beautiful. He passed them their cups and brought his to the front porch.

"Eddie it's raining and cold out there." Richie said, real concern laced in his voice.

"I'm okay. I'll just be on the porch." Eddie have him a reassuring smile and stepped outside.

About three minutes later is when Max and Beverly showed up. The girls were talking happily, their personalities were great for each other. As soon as Bev saw Eddie she knew something was really up. shed assumed that Richie was being his dramatic self when he was on the phone but Eddie seemed not himself.

The small boy had an emerald green hoodie on, although it was quite big and sorta swallowed him up in it. The hoodie read "DERRY POLICE SINCE 1927"

"Hey Eddie, its sorta cold out and i really dont want you sick. come inside with me?" The motherly redhead asked, holding out a hand. The smaller boy nodded and took er hand.

"Thanks Bev, for caring that is." she gave him a sweet smile as they walked into the warm home.

"Jesus, Richie! Eddie was nearly freezing out there!" Max whisper yelled at the four eyed boy as Beverly tried to warm up the smaller boy.

"I'm just gonna go grab my inhaler. Ill be right back." Eddie announced to the teenagers before quietly going down to the basement. That is the moment that the two red heads noticed the other girl.

"El! I haven't seen you in a while!" Max says in surprise. Will had told her about Mikes plan and shed assumed that he would've one it already. El looked startled by the red heads voice directed at her, because the two tended to avoid each other as much as they could.

"yeah, Hops has been asking me to stay in with him while he has his few days off of work." El explained her absence, taking the last sip of the warm cocoa liquid that Eddie had prepared for her.

"Ah, okay. Makes sense that he'd wanna spend time with his daughter." Max said, ending the short conversation and going to pick up the phone so she could ring her boyfriend, Lucas.

"Mike?" she called from the living room.

"What do you want Maxine?" He answered sourly.

"Its Max and who the hell shoved a stick up your ass?" To this, Mike didn't respond and simply waited for her real question.

"Lucas is coming over, okay?"

"Sure. Whatever. I don't care, do whatever you please, Carrottop."

"I will punch you."

Finally the rest of the losers and Lucas showed up. Dustin was on a date with his new lady friend, or, he'd said it was a date to his friends but it was just going to eat shitty fries at the arcade. Eddie was catching a small cold so everybody decided that they would stay in for the rainy day. The teens agreed on watching The Breakfast Club where Beverly got made fun of almost all day for looking like Molly Ringwald, to which she'd simply slide whoever said something the middle finger and be done with it.
