Ashton left the conversation to start a new message

ashton: hey man

Calum's phone beeped. Something he had gotten used since he texts Aubrey 24/7. But it was Ashton who texted him.

cal: what's up?

ash: i've heard some rumors and i just want to clear them all up

"Fuck," Calum cussed. How did he find out? Did the whole school know? He was going to tell Aubrey soon. He honestly was, but they had just started dating. Like that day. Calum didn't want to scare her off with his past. He was better now.

cal: what r they?

ash: i heard that u do drugs, tru or false?

cal: *used to do drugs and tru :(

Shit, Ashton thought. At least he was clever, the response proved that. But Mikey was right, Calum did have a drug problem. Well, *used to have a drug problem. Maybe he's over it. So, Ashton texted:

ash: do u still do drugs?

cal: not anymore, im better now

Ashton felt the need to ask Calum why and how he got into drugs in the first place, but he knew that was personal information that Calum would share when he was ready. Calum on the other hand was fucking freaking out. He didn't want his answer to affect his relationship with Aubrey. He didn't want Ashton (or anyone else) telling her. He wanted to be the one to break the news to her.

ash: luke said he saw a pamphlet in ur bass case abt addiction, u in therapy?

When Calum got the text he flipped a shit. And the table. And the bed. And the book case. He knew Michael was out to get him, but Luke? He thought they could be friends. Calum knew that Luke didn't "see" it in his bass case. Calum kept that thing tucked in a folder inside a secret pocket (that he had installed), under where the bass lays. Luke was looking in his stuff, but why? What did Calum ever do to Luke?

Hearing the ruckus, Cal's mum knocked on his door, "You okay sweetie?"

Calum responded, "not really."

"Want me to make you some cookies?" Yes. Calum's mum was the stereotypical house wife since his dad worked 24/7.

"Why not?" Calum shrugged and then picked up his phone.

cal: yes I am & luke didn't just 'see' the pamphlet, he looked thru my shit

ash: how wld u know tht?

cal: bc I keep my pamphlets hidden, they aren't jst laying around 4 evry1 2 see

ash: it cld've fallen out.

cal: unlikely, it's kept in a sealed pocket

Ashton had nothing to defend his friend anymore. Why would Luke do this? To ruin Cal's life? To ruin his...relationship!? Ashton always knew Luke had a little crush on his sister. But maybe it wasn't so little after all.

ash: oh rlly?

cal: yeah, y do u think he'd want to ruin me? I thgt tht we cld b friends

ash: idk bro it's awful tho

(Which is how Ash felt lying to Cal)

ash: r u gonna tell aub?

cal: yes

ash: when?

cal: hopefully soon, need the right time

ash: okay and if u ever need any help or shit, im here for you.

Ash had made multiple choices during that conversation.

1.) Calum really was a good guy and he probably had a good reason (if you can even say that people have a good reason) for doing drugs.

2.) Luke was a jealous asshole (Which Ash will discuss with him later)

3.) That Regina was adorable and that he loves her

Aubrey was still frustrated that Regina wasn't answering any of her texts. Regina hadn't even been taking the bus. Ashton said that her dad drove her now. Aubrey couldn't help but thinking it was her fault for ditching her that first day when Calum asked her to sit with him. When she sat with Calum and not Regina at lunch. Although, both Aubrey and Ashton had invited her to sit with them. She declined the offers and sat with the theatre kids. Was Regina mad because Aubrey was leaving her for Calum? Even though Aubrey really wasn't leaving her for Calum, she decided that this had to be the reason for her bitchiness. So Aubrey picked up her phone and dialed Reg's number.

It went straight to voicemail. Wow Regina. Love you too, Aubrey thought sarcastically. After the beep Aubrey left a message.

"Hey Regina, it's me, Aubrey, well you already know that but I'm sorry. I know you're mad at me and I miss having you around. I miss sitting with you at lunch. I miss sitting with you on the bus. I know you think Calum might be replacing you, but he's not. He's my boyfriend, not my best friend. And I know you're ignoring me because I saw Ashton texting you a couple days ago. I just really want you back as a friend and to sort out this whole ordeal. Besides, I need someone to gossip with. Calum and Ashton aren't really good at it. Okay, I'm sorry Reg. Bye."

Aubrey put down her phone, hoping Regina would listen to her message. Hoping that they could go back to the normal Aubrey and Regina. Aubrey didn't really like this version of them.
