i'm vvv proud of the boys for winning the vma for best lyric video !
sure, they didn't win artist to watch, but hey, let's make an acting analogy:
sometimes you audition for something and you think you did really good, but you don't get the role. whining and moping and hating on the person who got the role won't help. you gotta try and try again! there's always next year!
Aubrey scratched her fork on her plate at the dinner table. Regina hadn't called her back, even after three hours and she was starting to wonder what the hell her best friend could be up to.
"You okay, honey?" Mrs. Healan asked. Aubrey looked up, ceasing her scratching. "I'm fine, just sort of tired. School kinda does that to you."
Mrs. Healan nodded, and went back to her tofu and green beans.
Aubrey needed to call Reg again, or see if she at least left a message, but she also needed to finish dinner. After she had seen a slip of Ashton's wrist without bracelets, Mrs. Healan was worried for her daughter. Maybe she self-harmed too, or had an eating disorder. Aubrey knew how much she fretted, so she made sure she always ate her dinner and wore short-sleeves as long as possible. Aubrey didn't like her mother worrying.
So she scooped up the last of her tofu and chewed. She didn't really like tofu, but her mother and father were both vegetarians, and Aubrey and Ashton had kind of been forced into being ones too.
"May I please be excused?" She asked, her mouth full.
Mrs. Healan nodded. Aubrey dumped her bowl in the sink and ran to her room, where her phone was.
She dialed Regina's number. It picked up on the first ring.
"Aubrey."
"Regina, iloveyousomuchlikesomuch."
Regina hesitated. She guessed she was kind of being a bitch, and Aubrey was also being kind of a bitch.
"I love you too, girl. I guess we've both kind of been jerks." She substituted the word in fear that Aubrey would be mad at her.
"Oh my god, phew. Okay, listen, I promise that I won't neglect you like this again. I'll sit next to you on the bus every other day and sit with you at lunch and text you 24/7. Is that The Book of Mormon soundtrack playing in the background?"
Regina chuckled at Aubrey's use of the word soundtrack. Clearly she had listened to Regina's rants, for she recognized The Book of Mormon, but it was Original Broadway Cast Recording, not soundtrack. Will they ever learn?
"Well, girl, I had to get a note so I could have my dad drive me, so we can't sit together because I can't withdraw the note. And I would love to sit at lunch with you. Sometimes I need friend variety in my life. All the theatre kids talk about is auditioning and sometimes it gets boring."
Aubrey laughed. "That's good. Okay, love you babe."
"Love you too."
Aubrey hung up, incredibly relieved. She hated fighting with Reg, but it always happened when she got a new boyfriend. Maybe it was something in the bottled water the theatre kids drank...
But she knew it was because she spent too much time with Calum, and Regina was feeling rejected.
Aubrey groaned. She needed to figure out how to spend equal time with both parties.
Hormones suck.
