Things were finally going to be better than ever, they were finally going to get out of the mini-hell hole they liked to call the school. It happened to be summer break and since they were seniors they would be graduating. Now sure since they lived in a poor place and the school had been practically falling apart it wasn't going to be big extravagant yet it would surely give the poor kids the break that they oh so rightfully deserved.
"I don't think my mom's coming," Betty whispered sitting in the uncomfortable auditorium chair that also seemed to be falling apart. It had been loud in the room as everyone could be found in the best clothes they owned.
"Well if she doesn't make it then she's missing out," Jughead mumbled trying to cheer his best friend up putting an arm around her and it worked, well a little.
"I wish our fathers could come," She mumbled messing with his soft and rather large fingers. "I've dreamed of this day- Them bursting in the door and showering us in love... But now it's all over," People began to leave as the ceremony slowly ended- They were graduates.
"Hey don't worry," The raven-haired man mumbled wrapping her in a hug... "Your father is here at heart,"
"But it's not the same my mother she hates me and I feel like I have no one," She whispered looking away. "Except you,"
"Betty please stop worrying... Were going to leave soon," He reassured gripping her tight. "We're going to get out of this godforsaken town and county whether we have to die trying or not,"
"Do you think we actually have a chance?" She questioned looking down. "Because I'm still uneasy on the whole I'm going to be free. I don't know what the hell I'm going to do with it,"
"Well it's going to be better than here that's for sure," He mumbled with a wide smile. "What do you even think is in Canada beyond the fence-"
"Probably nothing we're probably risking our lives only to be disappointed," Sweet Pea exclaimed with a small chuckle.
"They'res probably flying cars and teleportation!" Fangs exclaimed with a wide smile.
"Well be can wish but whatever is out there it will be better than in here- That's for darn sure," The dark-haired man reassured with a wide smile. "And we're going to get out... I have a feeling that things will be better,"
So that became the day their hopes raised and everything looked up for the better. The friend group met up with both Sweeet Pea and Jughead's mom with smiles. Sure they weren't Betty Fang's parents yet they were the best that the poor teens could get. Believe me when I say that they would take anything they could possibly get their hands on.
In a couple of weeks, they would surely leave and things would be for the better...
"Betty this whole idea of yours isn't going to work," Alice stated as she watched her daughter plan running away from everything she had ever known in life.
"Mom if you don't want to go then don't," Betty mumbled sternly looking at her mother through anger. "But don't stop me from finally being happy and finally getting to freedom,"
"But what about our life here and-"
"There is no life here... Stop trying to get me to stay here for you because that is a battle that you'll lose," The blonde finally yelled dumfounding her mother as Betty expected to be hit again, however...
That didn't happen.
"I believe I'm the only one staying for your father-"
"Stop making up fucking excuses because you're too scared to leave!" Betty yelled looking away from her mother in fury. "I've already made my decision and you to need to accept that!"
It had been when the mother stormed out of the house and Lilly came out of hiding. "Awre you reawly Gowin to leave mwe?" SHe asked with a little cry.
"No... I'm not going to leave you, you're coming with me," Betty reassured pulling her sister into her lap.
"Mawm scawry," the young girl cried burying her head in Betty's neck, her soft cries tickling the green-eyed girl's bare skin.
"It's ok I"m here... I won't leave you," The blonde reassured hugging her sister tight.
Betty didn't ever want to let Lilly go. So if their mother tried to keep them apart then one hell of a fight became destined going to occur.
"So..." The green-eyed girl whispered breaking the eerie silence that evening in the beautiful meadows.
"I want to leave in a few days," Her best friend stated calmly.
"B-But I don't think I'm ready it's too early-" Betty became terrified of leaving her own mother and yet... Yet she didn't want that to come in between her and freedom. None the less hold her best friend back and even the words that escaped her lips shocked her.
She had been more than just fearful she had been worried.
"It's now or never," He explained running fingers over the cool grass.
"But your back-" An excuse that she knew definitely had been a good one however surely had been only pointed out to stall time so that they wouldn't have to leave so soon.
"It's fine," He reassured looking down with a sigh. "It's better,"
"So we're really doing this?" She asked with such hope in her eyes it made him want to just kiss her right there although he stopped himself.
There is still no time for a relationship... Yet.
"Yeah, we are... Betty things are going to be different and I need you to be prepared for anything," He whispered placing a hand on her shoulder. "Because I don't want you hurt,"
"Jug you're already hurt... I'm just terrified that once we get freaking Lilly out there walking miles that we won't be able to do so," She whispered looking away. "And then everything that we have been planning for will be ruined,"
"We have to go now though we can't push this off much longer... We can get away it will be tough but we'll get through it with each other's help," He reassured as she quickly wrapped him in a tight and breathtaking warm hug. "I already told Fangs and Sweet Pea... We leave on Friday,"
"Will you help me pack and make sure Lilly has everything the night before?" Betty questioned looking up at him finally.
"Of course," She smiled kissing the top of her head as she blushed a little.
"I don't know what I would ever do without you," She chuckled with a wide smile running fingers through his hair.
"You would probably we lost without me," He laughed jumping up from the ground. "Because I'm awesome,"
"Only you seem to think that," She mumbled with a wide smirk.
"Hey!" He exclaimed looking at her in fury. "If it wasn't for me you'd be dead!" That being how they ended up having the most random dance party ever in the meadow that evening.
Even if they didn't' have any music it seemed perfect. Things were perfect- For now at least. And as they dance around that evening worries faded away as Betty knew this man as all she needs to survive. Jughead her one and only.
