LUNAR'S P.O.V

My heart is in my throat as I watch Nathan toss the jacket angrily to his passenger seat and drive away.

Oh no.

He's so pissed that I returned the jacket he might not even read it.
Shit, I went about this all wrong.
I should have handed it to him in person.

I should have told him it's in the pocket.

Now he might never read it....unless I call him.

I contemplate calling Nathan as my finger hovers above his name on my contact list but for some reason I can't call him.

What will I say?

Where will I start?

My indecisiveness has me at a loss and I forfeit as I get into my car and head for my dorm.
The room is empty when I get there and I'm busy counting my fingers and checking my phone every five minutes.

But there's still nothing from Nathan.

And he might never read it now.

I might have to face him.

I grab my car keys and leave the room, instantly heading for my car and then I drive off.

NATHAN'S P.O.V

Over and over I read Lunar's letter and it's almost hard to believe she wrote this.

To me.

I think back to her expression in class and the conversation we had.

'Take it...please.'

'I'm sorry--'

'Don't.'

All this while she didn't want me to just take the jacket but to take the letter in it.

I look at the last words again.

'Well, all I need is you. I miss you Nathaniel.'

And instantly I grab my keys and the jacket, but the minute I open the door, she is standing right there.

For a second she has her back to me, then she turns to me.

"Lunar--"

"Just let me talk, okay?" She says, her voice quivering as she holds her palms up.

"I just....I wrote a letter but then you wouldn't read it. You didn't open it and it was right in--"

"The jacket." I say softly and she looks at me, her fidgeting stops.

"I read it, Lu. Every word." I say and I reach for her but she backs away.

"What? No. N-no, that's not how this was supposed to go. I was supposed to explain myself to you." She rambles, and I can see clearly now what's going on.

She's frightened. Frightened that I might not react how she wanted or it's not going to turn out how she wanted.

She had it all planned out.

"I was going to write the letter and give you in the jacket and you would see it...and come talk to me. But you never came." She looks up at me now, tears in her eyes and I can't take this anymore.

"Lu...." I gently hold her hand and she tries to pry it away without success.

"No, let go off me." She protests but I pull her close to me.
