The dishes clinked as I helped clear the table from lunch, spacing as I wondered about why I couldn't reach Ashlyn last night. We'd talked the night before... Maybe her phone had died, but her laptop too? The internet up there just must be sketchy.

"Woah, hey, you're going to drop the dishes!" Aunt Josephine said grabbing them as I bumped into the table, hissing as I stubbed my toe on the wooden leg.

"Sorry, I wasn't paying attention," I apologized.

"You alright Ky, you've been spacey all morning," my older cousin Jeffery asked looking over at me from where he was washing dishes in the sink.

"Yeah, I just couldn't get a hold of my mate last night," I shrugged and Jeffery nodded.

"Her name's Ashlyn, right? Too bad we didn't get here sooner, I'd love to meet her," he grinned, ruffling my hair with a wet soapy hand, light gray eyes shining affectionately.

"Yeah yeah, she'll be back, you'll get your chance," I laughed, shoving his hand off and combing my hair back. The door to Dad's study opened and closed with a soft click and I looked over at him, smile fading when I saw the sedated look on his face. "Dad, what's up?" I asked, getting a bad feeling in my stomach.

"Zishan, get the pack in the main room for a pack meeting; Anna! Take Henry upstairs," he called into the family room solemnly. Jet frowned and looked over at me questioningly, stacking up the cards they had been using to play go-fish. Zishan nodded and was already going around the house telling our pack our Alpha wanted us.

"Alpha?" I asked frowning, stress building when he wouldn't look me in the eye. I was standing in the main room a few minutes later beside Jet, waiting for my father to tell our pack and my family what this meeting was about.

"We will be going to Idaho. A handful of you will be staying here to watch the house, the rest of us will be leaving," my father announced and I went ridged.

"Why are we going to Idaho?" I demanded, claws digging into my palms.

"Ashlyn's father just called me asking if she was here. Apparently she went out last night and didn't come home. Her family has been looking all morning for her so I said we'd come up to help," he said gravelly, eyes trained on me. Something in me snapped and I snarled in rage.

"She's missing?!" I roared.

"Kyle, calm down, we're going to go up there and find her," dad said, narrowing his eyes warningly, telling me to control my temper. "Getting angry won't help, you need to stay rational. I need you and Jet to go to my friend Leo Veneficus' home, I'll send you his address. Tell him Morgan wants to cash in that favor," he instructed. It was all white noise, I couldn't focus through my anger and nerves. What happened to her?! She didn't just get lost, she could easily find her way home, what happened-

"Kyle!" Jet said snapping his fingers in my face. "Give me your keys and open your GPS," he said holding out his hand.

"Why they hell should I?" I snarled.

"Because you're pissed off and I'd be stupid to trust you to drive. Give me your damn keys," he said narrowing his eyes as they melted into gold, challenging me to argue. I growled angrily and bared my teeth, wanting to shift and bite into him.

"Kyle," my father growled, eyes shining as he stared me down, forcing me to give in. I adverted my eyes and handed Jet my keys slowly, stalking my cousin out to my car and dropped into the passenger seat, slamming the door and snatching my phone out. The engine hummed to life and the only noise between us was the automated voice giving Jet directions.
