"Come on man, don't be such a sore loser" Douglas's friend laughed and nudged the bear as he sipped his beer.

Douglas shrugged, "I told you she is just running a little late, she will be here soon" he insisted. His friends had been badgering him over the last few days. Enraptured with Gwen he had been accidentally ignoring his friends and escaping right from work to be with her instead. He frowned a little, though he insisted that he had gotten a date with Gwen, though he didn't really tell how far they went, and now were in fact dating.

"Pictures or it didn't happen my friend, its rules," one of the guys said waving the bottom of his bottle toward him. They group were over Bones's house, the only one who seemed to have a large enough space for all of them for their new year's get together.

Douglas sighed but grinned looking down at his phone.

Gwen: Just around the corner, save me a beer, having Lily's husband drop me off.

"She should be here in a minute," he said triumphantly and rose to get a cold beer out of the cooler and place it on a coaster next to his own.

Bones while walking past saw the extra beer being taken out, "If that goes warm you're still drinking it" he humped brushing off his paws on his cooking apron that read, 'Paws off I'm taken' before scurrying away to check on something in his kitchen.

Douglas rolled his eyes but nodded in agreement but stood feeling his phone vibrate in his hand.

Gwen: Here, can you go to the door? Just want to make sure I'm not crashing a random new years party

Douglas: I'll come out and get you, hold on

Douglas walked to the door with the curious eyes of everyone on him as he ignored his jacket but slipped out the door spotting Gwen standing a little awkwardly by the road with a blue SUV next to her, with a tiered looking male bunny driving.

Spotting Douglas she waved happily, going up on her tiptoes in excitement clutching a bag. Turning back to the driver she thanked him and after their short farewells he departed.

"Lily's husband?" Douglas questioned meeting her half way, and eyed the SUV turning the corner.

Gwen nodded, "Yeah, he offered to give me a ride over since I left my car at home, I hope you don't mind me stealing a lift later" she hummed suggestively.

Douglas chuckled and bent down to steal a kiss, "With that kind of situation maybe I'll just whisk you away to my house for the holiday" he cooed.

"Good thing I packed a blanket and warm cloths then," she hummed after they broke the kiss and slid her bag a little further onto her shoulder.

His eyes softened as he wrapped an arm around her shoulders, "Lets get inside, the guys still don't believe me that you exist".

"Still?!" she said surprised. "Where did they think you were going for the last week?" she asked as they approached the steps to the home.

"My place apparently" he said and opened up the door for her.

"Psh" she laughed shaking her head and entered the bustling home. "Woah, quite a few of you guys arn't there?" she said surprised sliding off her coat which Douglas took from hers and placed it with his own on the selected chair of the evening that seemed to gather all the coats.
