Since losing our babies, I hadn't given much thought to my birthday. Thanks to Noah putting a maybe date on us trying for our family I have relaxed. The therapy sessions were helping a lot, and Annabelle agreed to skype with us while we went back home. Even though the school was giving us the time off, I refused. Mainly because when I was sitting at the apartment, all I did was sit there and cry and mope around. I needed to keep busy now don't get me wrong I did have my moments of grief, and instead of fighting them I would just let them take over and work through them. I wrote that paper and was glad that both Massachusetts and California had laws concerning fetal homicide. Which meant that since the manager of the diner had given me oxytocin, he would be facing manslaughter charges since giving me the medication he had malicious intent. The same was going to happen to Warren in California since there was documentation proving he did the same thing. Warren did not know that he could face charges since I didn't know I was pregnant. The lawyers that were representing our baby had contacted us and asked when was the last time Noah and I were intimate before the first act. When they looked at the date of our last night together, and the day Warren gave me the medication they figured the baby was about three weeks old. As for the most recent baby, they were able to tell I was a month and a half along. They had asked us to give statements about how we felt about losing our babies.
The court date for Massachusets was going to be when we both returned for the fall semester. While the one in California was going to be during the summer break, I was not looking forward to either one, but I knew we had to appear to give our children a voice. Plus Anabelle said it might help give us closure. She explained she couldn't guarantee that we would feel whole after the hearings since every couple is different and this is something that no one thought anyone would have to face. Most of the laws had been enforced when a fetus was killed during a vehicular accident. This was going to be a first for both states where fetal homicide was being pursued due to someone intentionally giving the pregnant mother Oxytocin to cause a miscarriage. My professor read my paper while I waited and when he was finished, he looked up at me with tears in his eye's.
"Miss Evans I don't know how you are still moving forward after everything you have been through I don't think I could be as strong as you." I smiled "I think I would have fallen apart if I didn't have the best support system in the world. My fiancee is helping me every step of the way. We talk about how we feel about losing our babies and when we both feel as if we are spiraling out of control we make sure to contact the other one right away and we don't hesitate worring if the other one is busy. Plus we have his parents and my dad not to mention our brothers. Plus our roommates are great they don't tiptoe around us and treat us the same way they did before we lost the most recent baby."
He smiled at me "well I am glad that you have that support and I can't believe that you still tried to finish all your classes." "I had to I want my dad and my late mom to be proud of me. I can't lose a semester I have a job to get back to when I finish law school." "Oh, really where will you be practicing?" "Oh, I will be a partner at the Law Firm Flynn, Evans and Associates." "That is a very prestigious law firm back in California even I have heard of June Evans how did you score that job as an entering freshman." I smiled "My mom was Mary Evans I will be inheriting her share of the firm." "You are related to the Mary Evans." "Yes, sir." "Wow, Evans and Flynn were two of the toughest lawyers in Los Angeles. You mentioned your late mom what happened to her." "Oh, we lost her about seven years ago to cancer. I don't know if I would have made it out of my depression if I didn't have my best friend and my fiancee." "Oh, how long have you two been engaged." I laughed "Oh, sir it is not that kind of relationship. I have known him my whole life." Just then someone walked in, and of course, it was Noah I smiled and continued.
