[ the growing family ]"Aditya, when are you coming back ?", asked she as he answered her call waiting at the traffic signal, her tone quite impatient to him.
"I am just on my way, Zoya, will be there in fifteen. What happened, though? Any problem? You sound nervous.", he replied as he checked for the green light.
"Nothing like that. You just come home, first. I will ... I will tell you.", she tried sounding casual but in vain.
"I will be there, jaan, don't worry.", she hung the call up to his worry as he started driving, much faster to reach home.
"Zoya?", he entered their bedroom and looked around at the empty room, when he noticed his wife standing in the balcony, pensive, until she heard him calling for her. "Zoya, what happened, jaan? Are you okay? Do you feel sick? Should we go to the doctor? Wait, let me get your th—"
As he was about to move inside worried, she held him back by his wrist. "Aditya, calm down. I... I have already... been to the doctor this afternoon, anyways, and..."
"Don't tell me it's something serious. Oh, my Zoya.", he looked at her even more concerned when she chuckled at his childish frown.
"Aditya, if only you let me talk... Please, relax! I am all right, don't worry.", but his confused stare didn't seem to fade. "You know what? You should have something, you are just being your worried self whenever you get hungry. Get freshened up, while I will have our food heated up."
Saying so, she walked out of the room holding a shy smile as he looked at her retreating figure, in utter confusion. "What happened to her, though? Crazy woman."
The rest of the family was already in deep slumber as they had their dinner together, and soon they headed back to the bedroom, ready for bed time calling it a day. They comfortably laid down on their respective bedsides and Zoya immediately snuggled to him, keeping her head on his shoulder.
He sighed as he pulled her closer in his embrace. "I missed this so much.", said he closing his eyes when something clicked in his mind. "Now, will you, at least, tell me what happened to you, all by sudden? You literally scared me out.", he asked, noticing a small smile on her lips, as she fidgeted with his shirt button.
"Aditya... there is something important, that I have to tell you.", she started, still playing with his shirt. "I... I am...", her non-stop stammering got him doubtful and he held her chin up to face her.
He smiled at her red face as he asked, "Why is this beautiful wife of mine blushing so much?"
"Let me say, don't try to tease me in between.", she hit on his shoulder as he chuckled at her antics. "Aditya... what do you think about ..."
"About?", he dragged on the word encouraging her to continue.
"About... having kids?", she glanced up at her husband to check his reaction listening to her.
"Having kids?", she softly nodded and he sighed to reply. "Well... I have always believed that having children blesses your whole existence. Holding those tiny creatures in your hands is, for sure, a precious and beautiful feeling, and you would realize nothing else may bring more happiness than someone calling you papa or mah. Even our parents would have felt the same when we were born, right?", she smiled and nodded.
"But that also has a huge responsibility because you have to take care of a new life that depends on you until they become adults, and stable to be on their own feet. You have to teach them what life is, what the differences between the good and the bad are. You have to protect them from the danger, and shower them of good things. You have to guide them into the right path, and so yourself should be able to walk on it. It's just a lot of hard work, but certainly worth the evergreen happiness.", said he as he was unconsciously caressing her hair, eyes glancing up at the ceiling, a smile on his face at the thought of a baby playing in his arms. "But why are you asking this all by sudden?"
