[ concern ]"There you are, Zoya! I was about to call you.", Zoya walked inside the house, holding the baby after a little walk around the lawn area, when Anjana, sitting on the couch along with her friends, called her to introduce the little daughter.
"And here is... our little family member.", she took over the kid from Zoya and adored the precious smile on Diya's face, as she was looking at her grandmother.
"Anjana, your granddaughter is really pretty. Such an angelic baby!", one of her friends said, her eyes glinting at the little one as if seeing stars.
"Nazar mat lagao! She is so little.", Anjana rocked Diya with a smile and kissed on her forehead. (Don't throw the evil eye)
"Aunty, shall I get you something ? Coffee, tea...", said Zoya as she tried to get into their conversation.
"That's okay, Zoya. Marcus and Victor are here, right? They will manage. You go rest a little.", Anjana concluded, although her emotionless reply hit Zoya quite hardly, knowing her mother-in-law's feelings for her. Even though living under the same roof for a little more than two years, her equation with Aditya's mother remained more or less the same since day one : ignorance and silent disliking. And such get-togethers and parties were some bad experience. Thankfully, she mostly had to take care of Diya all the time ; either she would just remain seated in a corner with the little girl, or decide to stay home for the evening. Aditya always tried his level best to make his mother mingle with his wife, but just passing a mere smile, the older woman would excuse herself with chores. Somehow, the taunts were less frequent with time. She was less harsh since Diya happened in their life, though Zoya still preferred being shown the hatred than being ignored.
"Marcus, cof— oh. Hey, ladies! Seems like we have some guests today.", Aditya walked in the house as he came back from his two-days trip to Manali tiredly, when he saw the group of women seated around with their cups of tea. Greeting them in fast mode, he stood next to Zoya and kissed on her cheek, holding tight by the waist in front of everyone. Making the elder ladies giggle teasingly, and Zoya shy and embarrassed.
"Hmm, Aditya, so much of love towards your wife! Kissing her in front of everyone and all, huh?", Kuku aunty asked smirking at Anjana.
"Kuku aunty, I did this because we were standing in front of everyone. Alone, I can do more and better.", he winked at her while Zoya, feeling her cheeks burning, pinched on his bare hand. "Aditya, what are you do-", she whisper yelled looking at him smiling all happy.
"Hey! Baby is here as well. Meri jaan, aaja aaja papa ke paas!", he ignored her question and was going to hold the baby who, hearing her father's voice, squealed in excitement, when his mother stopped him. (My love, come to papa!)
"First go and freshen up. Don't touch her with your hands coming from outside. You know how infectious it is.", she turned aside as he stood back agreeing with a pout.
"By the way Aditya, Zoya, any plan of having a second child soon?", another lady, Mrs Sharma commonly called Sweety, blurted out, making Kuku choke drinking her cup of tea.
"Sweety aunty, what... what are you...", she mentally slapped her head for having stood here for so long while she could have hidden herself in her room escaping from such weird questions.
