9. Meanie

Robert Stanley's POV

We're now headed back for the city. What a night it was.
Medley's "Ken" turned out to be just the guy for her. He seemed a little uneasy towards me. He's a guy that half of the girl population could fall for; his dreamy eyes and blonde hair, with a good physique and of course his kind personality. Guess that's why Medley fell for him.

And yeah.. We're all in the same car, i.e, me, Tina, Medley and Ken.
Ken's car broke down while he tried to start it and it was beyond quick repair, so now we're all here in my car.

I felt a hand skim through my thigh so I turned to the owner of the hand, Tina. She was looking at me with a smile plastered on her perfect face. I smiled back and let her hand remain on my thigh. This trip is rather tiring. The first thing I'm gonna do after reaching my penthouse: is sleep.

Then I hear a giggle from the back, I check through the front mirror and see Medley and Ken sharing some jokes and giggling to themselves. That's childish.
What's the loser saying to Medley that it's making her control her laugh? It's disturbing. What's wrong with me??

After an hour we reach the city. Ken insisted on taking Medley home and I dropped Tina back home and true to my word, after I reached my penthouse, I went to sleep.

Medley Stryder's POV

The delicious smell of hot cocoa lingered through the whole house as I entered, accompanied by Ken.

"Honey! You're back!" Mom comes and envelops me in her arms. She releases me right after she notices Ken.

"Hello! You are??"

"Ken Marshall M'am." Then gives his hand for a shake, which mom takes with much enthusiasm.

"Please come and join us Ken!"
Mom leads us towards the dining table. Mom brings two cups of hot cocoa and two plates of waffles as me and Ken take our seats.

Mom takes her seat and starts talking, "So.. Are you guys just friends or?"

"Mom!" She's being so straight forward. Who asks that when their daughter brings home a friend? Gosh!

Ken chuckles and answers
"We're good friends M'am" and smiles.
"Oh really? Well.. Medley already has someone. Am I right dear?"
Mom gives me a sheepish smile.

Ken chokes on his hot cocoa  mom mentions that.

What just happened?

Perhaps... Ken feels something for me? Of course! He asked you out on another date!
Well... Yeah... But maybe not yet. We're just getting to know each other.

"No mom!" I protested.
"Are you okay?"

"Yeah.. " He smiles.

The rest of the time go by with mom and Ken chatting. I was like a piece of showcase in their conversation. I couldn't bring myself to think about any topic and besides they were having a hearty conversation.
I'm happy to see them getting along.

The next day...

My plan for today: Get ready and head for the library! Yeah.. Typical nerd. But I love reading.

Just then my phone beeps. Lately I've been popular. Haha.
I check to see what it is. And there goes my plan for today.

Medley. My penthouse at 10 am sharp. I hate delays. And especially waiting.

It's 8 am at the moment. I've got about two hours to reach Robert's penthouse.
I quickly take a shower and slip into my woollen sweater and loose black pants with sneakers.
My hair in a bun again. I rush down and have my breakfast.

Then head out for a taxi to reach Robert's penthouse.

9:45 am

Finally! I'm at the elevator now. Hearing the ping, I'm reaching closer to Robert's floor. I'm actually nervous to meeting him. I wonder what plans he's scheming. Just then my phone beeps again,

Sorry Medley. I'm suddenly caught up with something else, so today's plan is cancelled.

What the heck?!? How can he just cancel it? I'm just a door away and he cancels it! This is not happening! I'm gonna barge in.
I try to get in and find that the door in unlocked. Better for me.
As I enter, I see some clothes scattered on the floor and making trails towards a room on the second floor. I reach the room and pop my head through the door. I see a half naked body of a guy, his lower body covered with a duvet. I realised that it's Robert!

Oh my gosh!!

I dash towards Robert.
"Robert! Are you okay? What's wrong??" I hope it's nothing serious! I turn him over and see his face slightly flushed. I reach for his forehead, goodness! It's raging hot!

"M-Medley?" His voice is in a slur. He suddenly reaches out for my cheeks and caresses it.
Though he couldn't see it, my face turned a shade red.

"Robert. You're not well. Let me take care of you." I cover his upper body which is so tempting, with the duvet. Then rush out the room to search for a towel and water. I immediately call for a doctor and head back to his room with a thermometer.

He's fast asleep. I dip the towel in the water and squeeze out the water and place the wet towel on his forehead. Then slip the thermometer in his mouth.
I wonder if he's eaten anything, I rush down the kitchen and start preparing porridge for him.

By the time I finished preparing, the doctor came and examined Robert. He's said to have a very high fever and requires complete bed rest. The doctor prescribed the medicines for Robert and left.

"Robert, wake up." He shifts his position but still asleep.
He suddenly grabs my wrist and opens his eyes slowly.

"What the hell are you doing here?"

"I-I kinda barged into your place and found you lying in your bed helpless." I was fidgeting.

"First off, I cancelled the plan. Second, I don't need your help.
Third, Get out." Then he lied down again.

What the heck? He's so mean! Can't he be grateful? Uggghhhhh! I'm leaving. I hate him!

"Fine. Sorry for the intrusion." I grabbed my bag and rushed out of his penthouse leaving him.
