That Wednesday, two days later, I find myself heading back to the Dupuy house. As I approach, I catch sight of a figure sitting near the edge. I grin, waving up at the person.
"Robin!" I yell. "Hi!"
Robin's face pops over the edge. He smiles a little and returns the wave before moving back into safety. I open the door and scamper up the staircases until I reach the roof, where Robin is sitting quietly by the edge. He greets me with a smile.
"Fancy seeing you here," I tease.
Robin's face pulls into an amused smile. He nods his head in greeting and quickly pats the spot next to him, shyly telling me I can sit there. I readily accept the invitation, feeling some odd sort of accomplishment.
"How are you today?" I ask, pulling a pack of cigarettes out of my jean's pocket.
I take one out and hand one to Robin, passing the lighter along as well. Robin takes a drag on his cigarette before lifting a hand and tilting it back and forth, making the so-so gesture.
"Really? Just okay?"
He nods.
"But it's summer!" I protest. "There's no school and we can pretty much do anything we want. Aren't you excited?"
Robin makes the so-so gesture again, smirking slightly.
"Oh, come on."
Robin smiles.
"Well, I'm excited. My parents are going off on a trip next month and they're not forcing me to go this year since I'm almost eighteen, so I'm going to have the house all to myself for a week. I'm thinking of having a party or something." I think for a moment, then add, "You should come."
Robin shakes his head. I'm about to whine out a response, but my judgement gets the better of me and instead, I give him a soft smile.
"Not a party person, huh?"
Robin shakes his head again. He fiddles with the edge of his shirt, looking a little more tense than he was earlier.
"That's all right. Introvert?"
He nods.
"I get it. I'm what you'd call an ambivert. I think I appear more extroverted to people because I've got a good hold of keeping myself from holing up in my room all the time."
Robin smiles and I knew that was a good thing to say. I light my cigarette, looking at him out of the corner of my eye. He doesn't have the trademark cute features that quiet people usually have. His eyes are soft, yeah, but it's hard to pay attention to them when he has those cheekbones: sharp, prominent cheekbones that put Angelina Jolie's to shame. I get interested in anyone that catches my attention and I can't help but wonder if Robin is the same.
I glance down at his thighs, which are tightly encased in blue skinny jeans. His huge shirt is pushed out of the way so I have a nearly perfect view of them. If I touched them, I'm sure they'd be plush and warm. They'd be nice wrapped around my waist, or my cheeks, and they would surely look nice with my hands wrapped around them.
I tear my gaze away. I shouldn't be thinking such impure thoughts right now or about Robin. I look over at him, letting my eyes drift down to his lips. Well, I mean, why not? He's attractive, sue me.
"Have any plans for the summer?" I question.
Robin shakes his head no and arches an eyebrow at me in response.
