At some point, Robin decides that we're going to become ghost whisperers.
"What?" I say.
"Cross them over," Robin repeats. "I've been doing a lot of research on ghosts and I've read that ghosts who are sticking around in this plane of existence, are usually stuck here. A number of things can cause them to get stuck, mostly trauma or deaths so quick they don't realize they're dying. All the sources said that the ghosts are probably suffering. It makes me sad to think that."
I frown. "Suffering?"
Robin's head bobs up and down. "Uh huh. They probably don't know they're dead, so they can't move on and a whole bunch of stuff like that. There's a lot of factors and stuff, but I'm no medium, so we can't exactly figure out the details. I just thought it would be nice to move them on, so they aren't suffering anymore. It would clear the space of negative energy. Cleansing the area brings in positive energy and light and stuff. That would be good for us. Also, all that banging and other junk that creeps you out would stop."
I nod. All of that sounds good. "How do we do we cross them over?"
"So, I compiled three things that we can do," Robin starts, looking excited. "First, we'll smudge the room with sage. While we do that, we'll say words to help the spirits cross over. It'll get them out and bring positive energy in. Then, we'll salt all the rooms, which will keep the ghosts out. After that, we can burn frankincense. Frankincense also clears negative energy. That can be overkill for the Dupuy building and help for us in our rooms."
Listening to Robin talk about something like that and look so excited makes me inexplicably happy. I don't have any reason not to believe this will work. Besides, even if it doesn't, it's still putting Robin in a good headspace. That's what matters. Plus, I'm all down for getting the ghosts out of our hangout.
"You have the stuff?"
"No, but we can go get it somewhere."
I nod, whipping out my phone. I type in 'spiritual shop nearby'. One pops up in the next town over, which is about a quarter of an hour away.
"There's a spiritual shop, like, fifteen minutes away," I relay the information.
"That's good. Do you have a car we can take?"
I nod. "Yeah. West is in Europe, so we can take his. Tim is watching his house, so we'll walk over there and get the keys and then take West's car. They live next to each other, so we won't have to walk much after that."
"Cool." Robin smiles.
I grin. "Let's go work some magic."
With our plans laid out, we leave our spot on the roof and head to Tim's house. I text him to let him know we're on our way. I also tell him not to be annoying when we get there, since I have Robin with me and I don't want him to embarrass either of us.
It doesn't take is that long to get to Tim's house since he lives in the old part of town, with all the cool intricate houses that were built before people started making all the houses in the neighborhoods identical.
I rap my knuckles on Tim's door, waiting for him to answer. He opens the door so quickly, it's almost as if he was waiting for us.
"Hey, Jules," he greets, holding out the keys. "Hey, Robin. How's it going?"
He looks more interested in Robin than me, which is fine, I guess.
Robin smiles and flashes him a thumbs up.
"Good," I chirp, taking the keys. "Thanks for the keys."
"No problem," Tim says. "Have fun, you two."
