"Hey!" Happy shouted through the open window. "Kid!"
"Shit," I cursed under my breath. I started running.
I started running, pushing past people. I crossed a road, nearly getting hit by a car, they honked after me. I could feel my heart beating hard in my chest. I had a slight feeling of regret, but I couldn't stop now. So I kept running, beside huge buildings and a busy road.
Maybe I lied, I could run further than I said before.
I spotted Central park and a thought popped into my head. They can't follow me there in a car.
So I ran, as fast as I could, onto the grass, past couples, some kids playing football and some ice cream stall.
I found a rather empty spot. I sat down with my back to a tree and breathed out.
"What am I doing," I whispered to myself. I ran my hand through my hair and sighed.
I breathed heavily, for several reasons. First of all, I was out of breath from running, second, I was scared.
I heard a cat meow as it walked up to me.
"Hey, little guy," I reached out for it. "Are you lost?"
It happily accepted my pets and walked closer. I calmed down a bit. I picked it up and got on my feet. It didn't look like anyone was looking for it. And for the record, it wasn't wearing a collar.
"How do you feel about helping me find a weirdo?" I looked at the small cat and smiled.
It meowed as an answer. I took it as a yes.
"Great!" I exclaimed.
Its fur was the same colour as my hair, pitch black. And its eyes, just like mine, were green. The cat's eyes were just much paler.
"So his name is Phil, his friend is called Peter or something." They said they were in Brooklyn last time I saw them."
The cat yawned. It then looked over my shoulder. I followed its eyes, only to meet with Toby's, he was wearing a robot suit.
"Kid." He walked towards me. "Why the hell did you run away?"
"I, uh, well," I backed away as he got close.
"I won't hurt you." He reached out a hand. I continued to back away.
I wanted to find Phil and May. I felt like I needed to help fix this mess. And I definitely didn't want to go with Toby.
"Stay away from me." He got closer by the second.
"Is it the suit?" He asked as he stepped out of it.
"Stay away from me," I repeated slightly louder.
"Not the suit then." He sighed but continued. He put a hand on my shoulder.
"I said," I glared at him. "Stay. Away. From. Me!"
A bright light surrounded me and Toby flew backwards, hitting a tree.
(A/N, I really wanted to write "got yeeted".)
He looked at me, in his eyes I noticed fear.
I looked down at my hands, then at the cat. Then, I ran. On this one day, the only thing I had done was running.
I held the cat in a steady grip while pushing past people.
One thought was repeating in my head;
What did I just do?
I found an empty alley where decided to hide.
"Thank you for that." The cat looked at me. I blinked. "I don't like that guy either."
"You... Oh my god, you just talked." I sat like paralyzed with a talking cat on my lap.
"Yeah, and those puny humans dared to tell me, Loki Odinson, god of mischief, that I was CUTE!" He sighed. "So, you use magic?"
I didn't say a word, I was too shocked. There was too much going on.
"Maybe it's easier to talk if I'm not a cat." Loki stretched, just like cats usually do.
A dim green light started glowing from his body, and with a blink of an eye, he looked human.
No, a human wasn't enough to describe him. That was the most handsome person I had ever seen. Like when he was a cat, he had pale green eyes and black hair. His clothing consisted of a black leather suit with green elements.
"Let's start over." He smiled. "I'm Loki Odinson."
"Dice Evergreen." I smiled back.
"Well then, you were looking for a weirdo named Phil?"
