Dice's POV

A week had passed, and what had I done? Nothing. That man hadn't returned, but a woman came, she had strawberry blonde hair.
She tried to convince me to go with her. I refused.

May hadn't returned either, again Simon and I was alone.

Someone would come with food to me and Simon every other day, a bag of groceries, something I could just microwave if I wanted to, and baby food for Simon.
Simon happily ate, maybe a little messy. But I didn't feel like eating.

The only time I had been outside the past week I had been in a park next to the apartment.

I hummed to myself a song dad would sing. He worked in an office, but his passion was singing. He was great at playing the guitar too.

I wanted him and mom back so badly. While I knew there was nothing I could do, I wanted to do everything to get them back.

And I had a plan.

While I was humming I wrote a quick note;

"Call the woman. Don't worry about me, I'll return."

They would deliver the food in half an hour, I'd leave Simon at the door with the note and I would leave through the fire exit.

I felt a chill run through my spine.

"It's going to be fine," I told myself. I took a deep breath. "You'll find him."

I made sure Simon was asleep. He was already in his stroller which worked as a temporary bed. I looked at the kitchen. I knew I should eat, but I still didn't feel like it.

I looked at the clock on my phone, it was 11:50 AM. 10 minutes left.

I hurried into a room with a window, the one with the fire escape had loads of posters on the walls and a bunk bed. The top bed didn't seem used.

I knew I had to change clothes, and sadly the ones I brought with me were dirty because of Simon. For a few seconds, I considered "borrowing" a shirt and jacket from the closet in there. And with a slight regret, I took a grey tee-shirt and a dark green jacket with a hood.

I heard the door open.

"Dice?" I heard the man call.

That was my queue. I climbed out of the window and hurried down the fire escape.

Happy's POV

I opened the door holding a bag of groceries. Why did Pepper make me do this?

I sighed.

In front of me, I saw the baby lying in its stroller, it was asleep. On him, I saw a note.

"Dice?" I called out as I picked up the note. No answer.

I read the words. The woman? Oh, she must mean Pepper.

I realized what she was doing. I ran to the fire escape, only to see a girl getting to the bottom of it, running.

"I did not sign up for this," I complained.

Dice's POV

I ran as far as I could. Which wasn't actually that far, I'm not a professional runner. What did you expect?

I put my hands in the pockets of the jacket, I found my phone and earbuds.

I plugged the earbuds into my phone and put my playlist on shuffle, ironically the first song was, "Welcome to New York" by Talor Swift.

I smiled, this was great, maybe not what made me do this, but I felt great.

I saw a black car pass by, and sadly I locked eyes with the driver, Happy.
