Alexis' pov:
Today was a school day so all those of age went into town, guess who convinced me to come since I look forever twenty? Throw a wild guess...... Yeah it's Max bravo for the guesses.
"And this is the library." I nodded along boredly as the kid charged to show me around talked nervously, my neutral expression isn't a friendly one after all if you have forgotten.
"Great." I watched as he left before walking around and sitting at the table and pulling a pile of paper and a pen with a sigh and started reading the texts on it while twirling the pen in my hand, doing a few mindless tricks with it before quickly writing down something and going back to twirling it.
You see this pile that was as thick as a dictionary were almost all the packs archives on different things, there was three other piles of the same size as this one, and I agreed to read through it and correct what I could, I wasn't hear for almost 3000 years so I couldn't help with the pack's history between the time I wasn't here but I could translate those old texts into modern English, I had already read through and corrected two piles, two left.
I flipped the page and crossed out a word while writing in what was right, right now I was reading through the history of the creation of wolves and vampires and easily could correct it since the oldest archives were made by me, this was my writing, I had written these to try explain my pack what I was and how they came to be so different and added the cold one after we killed that man, I didn't know as much as I do at the time so there is a few errors here and there like a cold one will be able to forever zip around while I had just explained to young wolves a few days ago that that was not possible, I could keep up that speed for longer but not indefinite because I feel strain and tiredness unlike the cold ones.
I must have been at it for a while since the bell rung so I scooped up the pile in my arms and walked to the lunch room while still correcting the page.
"I don't get how you can like this place, I've been to enough schools to get sick of them." I told the five wolves when they waved me around, they didn't really mingle with humans unless one was their mates and I heard whispers about them being the popular group of this school, they do look good to human standards and almost smirked at the effect I had on the humans as I sat with them at the table and continued correcting the archives.
I don't mean this as bragging because I don't care enough for that but I do look good, I am something cold ones evolved from and when you become a cold one you become flawless, skin, hair, looks, all and well I was already like this as I was born.
Compared to humans and wolves I was quite pale but cold ones were worst, I am sometimes jealous of all these different races but most of the time I love being what I am.
"How? I mean like the schools must keep archives no?"
"Well." I sighed and put my pen down to look at Mike, the beta's actually nice son, blonde with blue eyes "You see nowadays only cold ones can have 'gifts', some sort of powers that come when becoming a cold one, all my people had that and since I am one I do too, cold ones just evolved in a way to keep having gifts I call magic while wolves didn't, I call it magic for the same reason I call vampires cold ones, an old habit."
"So you have a gift."
"Okay so a word about my.... Gift, I can erase my presence in someone's mind but unfortunately I must hold eye contact three seconds, a millennium ago it was five so I got better wouldn't you say? After I erase my presence I'm like invisible in their eyes and they remember nothing about how I look, humans forget everything unlike the supernatural who only forget my looks and don't see me, it helped me when I wanted to settle down for a little while before making everyone forget and running off."
"How would that keep you from being archived?"
"Let me finish.... My magic worked on machines unlike for the newer cold ones because in their humans lives they used them and since they used them it did something that they can't use their magic on it, I didn't use them in the past and was never human so I can make cameras not seeing me, the footage will be corrupted.... Once I made someone's forget me once I can instantly make it happen again with a single glance, once touched by my gift the effect will never leave, that's one of the reason people only know my name and nicknames and not how I look.... Back in the time it was no uncommon for me to make myself forgotten and then destroy the archives by hand but since machines keep them now it is easy for me to not be registered, in some cases I did also notice that the papers with my info just become clean again with no marks of it ever being used or files on computers deleting themselves.... I saw these happen soon after machines become common so I guess my magic adapted to that and literally erasing me not only of people's minds but also anywhere else as long as I erased myself from the mind of the person that created those documents."
"So your gift adapted itself to the new technology?" Max asked this one.
"Yes since my magic's purpose is the erase my presence, being caught on tape will keep my presence if my magic let it be."
I continued answering questions while correcting the archives, well school is more interesting than it was that's for sure.
