"Parasite Returns"

It's a Tuesday morning and Alex is on Luna duty. They decided to go out shopping a little bit. Alex stopped by a sunglasses kiosk in the National City Mall. She picked up a funny looking pair and put them on Luna. Luna giggled and then attempted to take them off, they fell onto the ground. "Luna, what did those sunglasses ever do to you?" Luna just stared blankly at her, before Alex cracked a smile and picked the sunglasses up off of the ground.
Just then Alex got a call from Winn.

"Winn? What's going on?"
"We've got a problem. You have to come in, like now."
"I'm on my way."

Alex look down at Luna in her stroller and said, "Are you ready to go to the DEO with Auntie Alex?" Luna looked up at Alex with a smile spread across her face. "I'll take that as a yes." When they arrived at the DEO, Alex pushed Luna and her stroller through the doors. "What happened? Why'd you guys call me in?" Alex asked Winn. But J'onn came up and answered instead, "We need you to help us investigate a crime lab." Winn cuts in, "Yeah, an entire team was murdered there last night. We need to know why." Alex began thinking to several years back when they fought Parasite. The same thing had happened then. "Yeah, let's go. Um, Winn." Winn swiveled his chair around to face her. "I'm gonna need you to watch Luna. I was on baby duty today." "That's fine." He said smiling over at Luna. "Alright, thanks Winn." Alex walked out with J'onn and their team.

Winn pulled Luna's stroller toward him and lifted her out of it and onto his lap. "Alrighty, let's find us some suspects." Luna began to tap the keys on the computer, Winn pushed the keyboard away and handed Luna one of the action figures from his desk to play with instead.

Meanwhile, Alex, J'onn, and their team had reached the crime lab. J'onn slowly slides through the door to the lab, Alex close on his heels. Alex peers over his shoulder to see a room full of bodies strewn across the floor, "What happened in here?" She whispered to J'onn. "I'm not sure exactly. It could've been anything." J'onn replied. He crouched down to get a closer look at one of the victims at his feet, when a loud and abrupt groan came from across the room. Alex sprinted across the room and found where the groan came from. She knelt down next to the man and found self-inflicted looking cuts across his stomach and on his arms. He was bleeding everywhere. "Medic! We need a medic!" She shouted. Did he kill all of these people and hurt himself to make him seem victim?

Winn had pulled up a chair for Luna next to him at his desk. He'd been working on a suspect list since the team left. Since it was Parasite last time, he'd been trying to figure out who could be behind it this time. "I think I've almost- Bingo! I've narrowed it down to 4 suspects." Winn said, very pleased with himself. He looked over at Luna, "What're you investigating over here, Luna? Is that a nerf gun?" She didn't even look up from the green nerf gun before replying, "Yeah." She clicked the trigger and the bullet hit Winn in the leg. He pretended that he'd been shot and slowly fell out of his chair. Luna started giggling and she hopped off of her chair and plopped down onto Winn's chest. He grunted and slowly sat up, pulling her onto his lap and kissed her head. Luna turned around in his lap and put her arms around his neck, "I love you Unca Winn." Winn smiled, "I love you too, Luna Grace."

They took the man back to the DEO to bandage him up and question him. Alex started, "What happened in there? You were the only survivor. Do you remember anything? Anything at all?" The man immediately grew angry and began to defend himself, "Are you accusing me of murder here? I didn't do anything, okay? I don't remember anything. Can I go now?" Alex wanted to say no. She hadn't even semi-accused him of anything. She opened her mouth to sassily tell him no, but J'onn cut in, "Sure. Just don't go too far. No bright escape ideas. You're still under investigation." The man, Evan, sauntered out of the DEO without a care in the world. Alex glared at J'onn. "We don't have any hard evidence on this guy. We can't just keep him here." He said. "Those wounds were self-inflicted and I know it." Alex stated. J'onn sighed heavily and said, "I think so too, but we have to have a specialist look at him first. She's flying in tomorrow morning. We'll get him back here then." He walked out of the room.

Evan was halfway down the street, he began to feel strange, he stumbled into a nearby alleyway and doubled over and fell onto the cold, hard ground. He screamed as the parasite writhed around in his brain. As quickly as it started, the pain stopped. He stood up as if nothing had ever happened. He began walking toward the parking garage of National City University.

Winn had called Kara. Kara landed on the balcony and rushed down the stairs on over to the computers. "What happened?" She asked Winn. Winn got up out of his chair, "We think that this guy, right here," He said pointing at the screen, "is working with our parasite guy." Alex quickly strode in from a side room, "This parasite is moving fast, but he's slowed down a lot because he's waiting for Rand." Kara stared at the picture of Rand on the screen, "Where's he at now?"

At the parking garage...
Evan was lurking in the shadows of the parking garage. Rand walked out of the door and into the garage. Evan caught him on the way to his car. Evan grabbed his shirt, "I need you to do what I ask of you, because if you don't, bad things will happen to you. I'm becoming very powerful." Rand was shaking and was about to answer, when Kara sped up behind him, "Not on my watch." Evan let go of Rand and spun around to face her. "We'd like to have a little chat with you." Kara said slyly. Evan tutted, "We?" J'onn flew directly into Evan's back and knocked him to the ground, "We." But before they even knew what was happening, Evan stood up and grabbed both Kara and J'onn, sucking the life out of them and getting more and more powerful. Alex, and a team she'd quickly put together, drove up to the scene. Alex jumped out of the car screaming, "Let them go!" Evan dropped them both and ran. Alex ran up to them. She knelt down, "Kara?!"

Back at the DEO...
Alex had Kara and J'onn on tables, Kara underneath a sun lamp. Mon-El walked into the DEO with Luna in his arms, "Winn, where's Kara?" Winn looked at Luna, "She's in that room over there." Mon-El started walking to the door when Winn stretched his arm in front of Mon-El, "I would leave Luna here with me." Mon-El glanced at the door and back at Winn, "Is it that bad?" Winn looked down at the ground and scratched the back of his ear. Mon-El breathed heavily and attempted to put Luna down. He couldn't, Luna was holding onto his neck for dear life, "Luna, come on."  Luna swung her legs around Mon-El to hold on tighter, "I wanna see mommy!" Winn gestured his hand to the door, realizing she wasn't going to take no for answer.

Mon-El slowly entered the room, immediately seeing Kara lying lifelessly on the table, her skin sunken in. She looked like nothing but a skeleton with a very thin layer of skin, no muscle, no nothing, just a paper thin layer of skin. Luna lifted her head off of Mon-El's shoulder, "Mommy?" She said softly, tears in her little, blue, comet eyes. Mon-El looked away from Kara, he couldn't bear to see her like this. He looked at Alex instead, "Is she gonna be okay?" Alex, sounding a bit choked up herself, said, "Yeah, she's gonna be fine." She sniffled a little and looked up at him, "You should take Luna home. If anything changes, I'll call you, okay?" Mon-El turned back to Luna, "Yeah, okay." Luna had tears streaming down her face, she couldn't tear her eyes away from Kara, "Everything's gonna be fine sweetie, I promise."

Mon-El took Luna back home and took her straight to her room. He changed her diaper and put her into her pajamas. After, he made chicken for dinner. Luna just poked at it with her tiny plastic fork. Then, he gave Luna her bottle and put her in her crib. He looked down at his sad baby girl, "Mommy will be fine, baby. Please go night night, okay?" Luna, cuddling with her bunny, looked up at him, "Otay, daddy." Mon-El smiled down at her, he leaned down, covered her with her blanket and kissed her on the forehead. He walked over to the door, "Goodnight sweet girl. I love you." "I love you too, daddy." He smiled to himself and closed the door.
