[Kline's POV]

Last night was a little bizarre. No, a lot bizarre.

Anzel has never ever spoken to me ever since he lives in the pack house, but last night...

My spine shudders ominously. His voice... his sharp eyes... I can fall over flat onto the floor if he commands me to. I hate the possibility of that happening, because he's the future Alpha leader of this pack. And I'm naturally one of the weakest werewolves.

There's still such cases where the leaders or much more powerful werewolves abusing their powers in their own packs to suppress their own members, even though The Council has been purging such acts and punishes the corrupt werewolves actively. Smaller packs, bigger packs, it's mostly the same, unless the werewolves are originally born from a good-standing family.

But, this pack's Alphas are actually down-to-Earth & very good with the pack members, so I don't get why Anzel alone treats me like... like a target... kind of.

Come to think of it, he'd always appear whenever I do my rotation work around or outside the pack house...

Is he stalking me? My spine shudders some more.

"What do you want from me?" I think out loud.

"Uh... nothing? Just pass me the broom, Kline." My work partner, Billa says hesitantly. My cheeks redden again out of embarrassment as I give him a broom from inside the storage room. We're tasked to sweep the leaves outside and around the pack house throughout the week when we're not working our actual jobs.

"Sorry, I was just thinking about something." I take my broom and the dustpan together then close the storage door. Billa walks beside me as I head toward the front entrance.

"Haha, it's fine. You look funny when you're distracted, though. You're thinking hard about someone, huh?" He nudges my hand with his broom.

I look at the smirking Omega. "How do you always know?"

"You're an open book, darling. Anyone who watches you long enough will know what you're thinking. Easily."

"Says the expert virgin." I try to poke him.

"You're the clueless virgin, though." Instead, he throws me off guard.

"Huh? Clueless?"

"See? You don't even know."

"Tell me, then."

"Nope. You're gonna have to figure it out yourself. Congratulations in advance, though. I envy you."

I stare at the playful Omega as he skips past me cheerfully.

Congratulations? For what? "Hey wait! You HAVE to tell me-"

We're both lucky that this week hasn't seen much action from the weather. It's not too breezy nor too cold for us to sweep the leaves outside, so we've done pretty much a quick job every late afternoon.

As we come back inside and put away the stuff, I notice that this is the first week that Anzel hasn't been appearing randomly around me.

"Ah..." Ever since that bizarre night where he asked to talk to me alone.

"What did you find, Kline? Realise it yet?" The Omega teases me.

"Oh, shut it. I don't know... I don't understand it myself."

I feel at a loss now that I...

"Don't stop in the middle of the hall, Kline. The pups will knock you over." Billa pulls me with him into the common room, just in time to avoid standing in the path of the running pups.

I sit on one of the lounge sofas near the book shelves thinking absentmindedly, until suddenly Billa half-laid on my left side, making me almost flip over the right side of the sofa.

"Hey!"

"You miss that lucky person, huh."

My mouth hangs open as I am unable to reply anything to the cunning Omega.

"........... NO."

"You do. Just admit it."

"No."

"Deny it all you want, I know you feel empty now that you finally know they're not here. Now, let's go have dinner. I'm hungry." Billa pulls me up from the sofa.

-

"A pack party tonight? What for?" I ask Billa right after the mass announcement was made in our pack link by Alpha Kris.

"I don't know. Why don't you ask the Alphas?"

Alpha Kris and Anzel have just gotten back from somewhere. They've been absent from the pack grounds as soon as the morning after that night. Apparently, it was an emergency call by the neighbouring pack over the other side of the hills.

"Fana just say it's finally time for one & we all need it. That's not a real answer."

"Then, it's not for us to know." Billa shrugs it off as he picks a light purple shirt from his wardrobe. He's got a unique taste that compliments him so well.

"Shoo! Go prepare yourself for the party already, I'm showering and locking my door for now. See you in an hour!" He pushes me out of his room.

I can get ready just in fifteen minutes... so why is he being stingy? I like hanging out in his colourful room...

Never mind the expert virgin. I'll just read some books until it's time to take a shower.
