[Kline's POV]
I don't notice anything off with the welcoming party, until I spot Anzel's uneasy countenance as he approaches me from the side of the pack house.
Billa, also spotting Anzel at the same time, leaves my side quietly. I don't even notice that he's gone until I set aside everything I've been doing to focus on Anzel.
Anzel slows down the nearer he comes, and I can do nothing but fidget on my feet.
When he doesn't say anything but just look at me with that very familiar look, I'm tickled inside. He always do this when he's restless and needs my help to keep his mind off of some things. The shy but begging puppy eyes.
"Want to hide and talk somewhere?" I ask while smiling at him.
He visibly relaxes and nods firmly once. "Yeah please help me get away from-"
"Anzel! Where are you?" A slightly shrill voice calls out for him somewhere from out front.
I look at him and I can see him cringing so hard at the voice. Then his eyes widen as he refocus back on me, his eyebrows are now creased and lifted so high above his eyes it makes me want to laugh out loud at his comical expression. It basically reads as, "let's RUN! NOW!"
I don't get to laugh though, as he suddenly drags me away from that area by my wrist, and he completely switches off his Alpha aura and scent as he shuffles with me to a more secluded area in the woods behind the pack house where we stop setting up any more tents for the extra guests.
I become alert when this happens. Sometimes he uses this natural ability of his to hide himself very well from other people, when he simply didn't want to be found. He used this when he was still small and each time, it freaked his mother out but not his father. It's his father's ability as well, so Anzel definitely got it from him. And his father always let him find his own way back when he's ready to come back home.
It's stressful to be the heir to successful parents and strong family line, and he knew it since he's able to learn to talk, because he actually understood the adults around him. The talks they did about him, even in his presence. But he coped with it bravely.
We keep walking in the bushes until we reach a small and clean hidden grove that has a small stream running beside it, deep in the woods. I've never been to this area in the pack land, but it feels very cozy and familiar. It faintly smells like him.
He nudges me to sit at a spot right beside the stream where I can put my feet in. He joins me when I do just that, after I takes off my slippers.
I look around and open all my senses so I can feel the surrounding, but all I get is his presence, warmth, and the sound of his pulse. I can feel my own aligning to his steadily. This confuses me a bit, but I ignore it to focus on him.
After a while, he lets go of his aura and scent when he finally feels relaxed and ready to talk to me, so I look at him expectantly.
"This is where I've always gone to before."
I nod in acknowledgement. "Thank you for showing me this place. It's very soothing."
He flashes a tiny one sided smile and looks back into the clear stream of water. Small fish already surround our feet to feast on the dead skin. They tickle me worse as time goes by, so I can't help but lift my feet off of the water and sit cross-legged, but he just left his feet in the water like it doesn't affect him in the slightest. I envy him in times like these. The fish looks cute.
"Did you know that they tried to mate with me before?"
"Uh?" Something throbs in my chest.
"Sorry, I mean, that person who's calling for me just now. They've been wanting to mate with me, even if we're not true mates, since we met in one of the earliest Alpha Camps I've attended. That's why I absolutely need to avoid them at all costs. They ignore all my rejections like it's all air, though... I..."
