[Kline's POV]

I never think that there's a possibility of Anzel getting a mate this soon, until I accidentally stumble into him talking to the few of his schoolmates who are also werewolves living in the pack house. Most of these students are still unmated, and has been actively looking around in and outside of school, as their hormones and instincts are at their peak and as their scents obviously tell.

They're currently having a daily study discussion for their upcoming tests or finals.

I come over slowly, as not to disturb their serious atmosphere. Anzel looks up as he senses my presence first, then the others follow suit.

"Do you guys need anything for refreshments?"

"Thank you, Kline! We want more iced drinks and snacks please!" Anzel's bestie and future Beta, Taylor voices for their stomachs. They all hand me their empty glasses and snack bowls.

"Coffee for me." Anzel smiles. His eyes linger as he observe me, but I break our eye contact to ask, "Anything else?"

They cutely answer no and thank me simultaneously. I go to the kitchen to retrieve what they want without delay.

As I make their drinks, I think about my own instincts. Why aren't I looking for my own mate yet? I'm way past my teen years as well, so... Why don't I feel the pull?

I should consult with Dr. Miryam, our pack doctor. In fact, I can go meet her right after this.

"Your mating instinct is blocked because of a trauma you may have forgotten about, Kline. This is a sign of you subconsciously preserving your mating bond to avoid the same trauma from happening to you and your mate. It makes you unaware and may make it harder for yourself to connect with your mate, even if you've met them in person or live alongside them for some time." Dr. Miryam explains.

"Uhm... okay..." I think I know what trauma she's referring to... but I'm not ready to confess it. So instead, I ask, "How do I unblock it?"

"You have to get over your trauma. I have a few clinical solutions to this, but I recommend that you talk with my husband about your problem first." She looks at me with an understanding expression.

Her husband, Dr. Spence is a psychologist and he also works part-time in the pack. Oh boy.

Am I ready for this?

"Can I see him right away? Sorry for taking both of your time tonight."

Dr. Miryam lights up at my question. "No, it's alright. I'll call him in right now."

She proceeds to link him telepathically as I fidget around on the chair I'm sitting in.

Better just talk about this now that I have some time to spare. I don't want to stay single for the rest of my life, trauma or not.

I think, Anzel has been looking for me ever since I went to see Dr. Miryam and Dr. Spence. As soon as I step off her clinic's wing to the first floor, we meet each other by the foot of the staircase.

His eyes obviously question me, even if he doesn't utter a single word.

Some things really just don't change... He always looks cute like this.

"I was just in Dr. Miryam's office. Before you ask, it's nothing of importance, Anzel. Don't worry about me." I hold out a forefinger to his face as soon as he hears the doctor's name and alert changes his expression. "Have you finished your group discussion?"
