The next thing I knew I was surrounded by a large crowd of people, all rushing around. I had no idea where I was or what I was supposed to be doing.

Then I remembered, I had wished to be a model. I was probably somewhere in a big city and there was probably somewhere I was supposed to be that I wasn't or something I was supposed to have done but I didn't.

I blinked my eyes and saw that I was in a dressing room surrounded by models getting their makeup and outfits ready. Apparently I was really a model and I was about to go out on the runway.

I turned around to see a middle-aged woman approaching me.

"Hailey! Antonia is ready for you now." she gestured for me to follow her.

I just nodded and trailed along behind her, wondering who Antonia was. Perhaps she was the designer of my outfit. Perhaps she was my makeup artist or hair stylist. I really didn't know.

I was to find out soon enough when I was led into a room filled with mannequins, sewing machines and materials, and a surprisingly large amount of dresses and shoes hung up and lined up on one of the walls.

I guessed this to be my dressing room where I would find the outfit I was to walk down the runway in, if it was really true that I was a model.

"Here dear. Put on this." said the woman who was called Antonia.

She handed me a strapless sparkling dress covered in sliver sequins at the top that then faded down into a full black skirt. The top and waistline of the dress were embellished with blue sequins. It was absolutely gorgeous.

I turned around as soon as Antonia was done fitting the dress properly and I looked in the mirror. When I saw my reflection, I barely recognized myself. My body had become thinner, taller, and my curves were much more pronounced.

For once I felt truly gorgeous. I hadn't even had my hair or makeup done yet!

"You look marvelous!" Antonia said after I had gotten a chance to see myself. "Now let's get you over to the makeup counter and hair salon as quickly as we can. There's only one hour left before you walk down the runway."

I smiled and followed her back out into the crowds room that I had first appeared in after my wish. We turned a corner and entered a room full of hair stylists waiting at stations.

Some were busy working on other models. Curling, straightening, and pinning up their hair. I was brought up alongside a woman with black hair and seated in a styling chair.

"Keep it down. Just down and curled, with nice volume." Antonia instructed.

The woman in black hair simply nodded and began her work.

About an hour later I had gotten my makeup and hair done. I stood behind a sheer white curtain and waited to walk down the runway.

Other models stood around me looking glamorous as ever. I wondered if I looked as lovely as them. I certainly hoped I did!

At least I felt good about myself for once. I had been dressed in a truly beautiful dress, my hair hung long, silky, and curled around my shoulders. My makeup had been done simply but beautifully. Some mascara, blush, foundation, and sparkly nude colored eye shadow.

Then I heard the music begin, lights flash, and the first model went out from behind the curtain to walk down the runway.

One by one we took our turns, walking gracefully through the crowds and stopping to pose for the audience and supervisors every now and then.

I unusually preferred to stay in the background and keep to myself and my acquaintances, but this moment in the spotlight was far from unpleasant.

I walked down the entire runway, and then went backstage again. The show had finished, and I was directed back to the dressing room where I had begun.

"Marvelous Hailey! Marvelous! Everyone was delighted with the show, and you looked stunning in that outfit. I'm so proud of you!" Antonia praised me with light applause as I entered the room.

I smiled in agreement, not wanting to say a word for fear that I might say something out of place. She handed my my old clothes and I took this as I sign that I should change again behind the curtain.

This I did, and handed her back the dress I had made my appearance in on the runway.

"Oh, no dear. You get to keep that! You always keep the dresses from your shows!" she said with a wave and a smile.

Keep the dress? I couldn't believe it! I was actually allowed to keep this gorgeous dress!

"Thank you so much!" I said wrapping my arms around her in a hug. I didn't know if that was a good idea or not, but I decided anyway that I would. I was too happy not to.

Antonia patted my back and said with a chuckle, "You're welcome dear. Now go on out! Your cab is waiting to take you home!"

I smiled and left the room. This wished had been good so far, and I could only hope that it would continue this way. Perhaps without drama or conflict. It was highly unlikely, but I could hope! Perhaps I could even wish!

I stepped outside through a large glass door, and got into the taxi the was waiting for me.

"To your house, Miss Hailey?" the driver asked me.

"Yes." I said as he drove off. I had no idea where that was, or what I would find there. But this time, I was curious to find out. Perhaps if I just let me wishes play out, and I didn't try to change the way they went, they would go better for me.

Worrying never got anybody anywhere, but wishing sure did!
