Chapter Three- The Fall

Coming home for the first time in two months was definitely the best feeling in the world. The small, one story, white suburban house seemed to even smile as our car rolled into the black paved driveway, sending me to smile as well.

I always loved our house... it was the perfect size, with three bedrooms, two baths, a small kitchen, basement, and a living room. Some people called it small, but it definitely wasn't for me.

"Welcome home, Hope!" my mom cheered, as I jumped out of the car and strode my way to the front door. I stood there for a moment as I stared at the white glass door, before opening it up with the key we always hid under the doormat and walking on in.

Immediately once I stepped inside into the living room, the vibrant smell of flowers filled my nose, along with another new scent which literally hit me when I walked further. It was a small golden puppy, with a blue collar wrapped around its neck. His eyes popped out when I knelt down to pet the little thing, as he playfully nudged my hand up.

"Who is this little guy?" I asked, as my dad came walking into the room next, followed by Ethan and my mom.

"His name is Curly Cue...but we call him Curly for short," Ethan told me, as he stomped his way to me still kneeling on the brown carpeted floor.

"He's adorable! When did you get him?" I asked once more, picking Curly up in my arms and sitting down on one of the two plush white sofa's we had surrounding our T.V. in the living room right off the front door. He was so tiny, he fit in the palm of both my hands!

"We got him about two weeks ago, a friend of your dad's actually gave him to us. He thought we needed to be happier and so, he bought us a dog!" my mom said, sitting down beside me, as my father walked into the kitchen which was adorned off the small ivory colored living room we sat in. He seemed to be pulling something out of the fridge and immediately once he came back I knew what it was. Oreo ice cream... my favorite.

"Here kiddo, we saved this for you," he smiled, handing me the ice cream along with a silver spoon from one of the wooden kitchen drawers. I immediately placed down Curly, while grabbing the spoon and ice cream and stuffing my face with the creamy goodness.

"Thank you," I said in between spoonfuls, until finally I finished it all and set it down, still starved. "Is there anything else to eat?" I asked, as I stood up from the couch and ventured into the small white tiled kitchen we had.

"Sweetie, have anything you want," my dad said, as he threw out my ice cream and started washing the dishes. It was weird to be treated so royally once I got back...it almost felt wrong that my parents were doing everything for me. But I guess that was merely because they were still shocked I was here and knew I had been through a lot.

"Okay," I responded, pulling out some juice and drinking it up, before feasting myself to some leftover lasagna. I usually never ate a lot, considering my stomach wasn't too big and I filled up fast on food, but today that was totally different. I was completely and utterly starving.

"Remember, Toby is coming over soon. It is almost five, so he should be here any minute. Don't eat too much, otherwise you won't be hungry for dinner," my mom yelled from her room, which was off the hallway that exited the kitchen. I nodded, even though I knew she couldn't see and brought my plate over to my dad to be washed, before walking to my room off the hallway as well. My room immediately invited me with it's light green wall color, as my small white bed placed in the center with two white night stands on either side happily welcomed me back.

I jumped onto my bed, rolling around in my soft blankets and never ever wanted to leave them. I was content right there and then. However, once I looked around my room once more, I noticed something different. Instead of pictures hanging around my walls, there were letters. Letters from my friends, family, even people I didn't know who were praying for me to come home.
