The obnoxious loud noise of printers and the sound of computers and laptops keys clicking, altogether, distracted Vaani.
Her tired eyes skimmed over the laptop screen, again.
She refreshed the page, watching as the blog page reappeared for the 18th time.
Vaani reread it slowly, not being able to believe what was written before her eyes.
In big bold letters were written,
"Oprens, head of blogging department & main writer, Vaani Canter accused of stealing Selfer news articles since a few months. "
She sighed loudly, rubbing her forehead and taking a sip of her coffee.
She had not slept in two days-since that blog was out.
Oprens, where she worked, was one of the biggest and most popular news company.
But lately, the income was starting to dim. Maybe because of the fact that their manager was still on his honeymoon since 3 months.
Or maybe because for the past few months, every single of their news article was completely, absolutely fake.
Approximately 4 months ago, Vaani started noticing something weird.
At their work place, they had this strict order that when a typist finished typing the whole article, they have to send it to the head of bloging department for editing and then wait up to 45 mins to publish it.
As she was the head of the department, she had an extra copy of every single article that has been written since two years.
But 3 months ago, she noticed that just when they were going to publish their new articles, Selfers had already published the same news.
Selfers was the second-best company and needless to say, Oprens biggest rival company.
Vaani brushed it up for the first time, also the second time but when it happened again for the third time then she started reading all of them.
She was shocked to see that the words were the exact one as the page that she had edited. So that means there was something indeed wrong.
So, that afternoon, she made a call that could change her life.
She called her manager, Eric to let him know about situation.Eric finally came to a conclusion that as they were near to impossible to catch the traitor lurking around Oprens, he decided to assign her a new job.
Vaani's heart stilled when she heard the next few words that came out of Eric's mouth.
"I need you to go to the Royal Palace as undercover journalist. It's up to you what you will be working as there. You can be a gardener, a servant, a guard, a chauffeur whatever it is you be but I need my weekly updates!" Eric said.
"I-I ca-can't accept this! Can't somebody else do it?" Vaani replied.
"Nobody else would understand the seriousness of this job and you will be the less suspicious one. If you take 3 months holiday, everyone will think because you want a break from all these rumours about you." He whispered.
Vaani sighed loudly.
It was either this or It was be jobless.
This was her best chance to prove that she is trustworthy even if this could result in a very bad way.
She did the last thing she thought she would ever do; she accepted to go to the Royal household as an undercover journalist.
She knew she would regret her decision later on but for now, she had no choice.
