"OK Mina, you see your wheelchair? It's about twenty feet away. Do you think you can do it?"

The nurses hands were tightly clenched around my arms.

My feet felt wobbly against the wood floor.

I don't have any time left.

"Yes."

I took a step forward.

The now familiar shots of pain traveled through me.

But the were much less intense than before.

The doctor and nurses watched as I took another step.

This time faster and more steady than the last.

They watched in awe, even until I made it the whole twenty feet.

I stood next to the wheelchair, feeling lighter than ever.

"Mina!"

The nurse tackled me with a giddy hug, and I couldn't help but laugh.

I made it.
