She sat in Professer Kantos' office gaping at him after hearing him tell her that her dumbass might be one of the most powerful Atts to ever go to Penderghast."That-That cannot be right. Lots of people have two Attunements, right?" Rachael asks, screaming on the inside.
"It's certainly not uncommon. But it's your potential that's really astounding. I wouldn't be surprised if you ended up having a third Attunement at some point in your life." Kontos explains.
"So like...another one may just appear someday? Out of nowhere?" Rachael questions.
"It's not a perfect science, Ms. Michelle. Sometimes the readings are wrong, and sometimes Attunded grow new powers over time." Kontos says, pointing at another poster on his wall, which pictured what looked like a food pyramid, but less like a period and more like a skyscraper. They listed out the different Attunements with Eath, Water, Fire And Air on the bottom, with Wood and Metal listed above, and Sun and Moon listed even higher than that. "Generally speaking, an Attunded at each tier will also gain an element from the tier below. Traditional, second tier Attunded will have two specialties. For example, a Wood-Att may also have a mastery of Water."
"But...a Water-Att couldn't have a secondary, because there's no tier below them, right?" Rachael asks.
"Correct." Kontos nods. Rachael observed the poster again noticing that the Sun and the Moon connect to form a triangle on the top, but there was no symbol there. "With practice and careful study, you could very well discover that you are even stronger than you currently appear to be."
"Wow...This is unreal..." Rachael sighs, running a hand through her hair. "That I could be so powerful, that is...it's insane."
"You are rare and powerful. Two components coveted by the wicked. Do me a favor though, won't you, Rachael?" Kontos asks.
"That depends what it is..." Rachael says.
"Remember...goodness rarely stands alone." Kontos says, peering at her from over his round rimmed glasses, before he pulled out a piece of paper with her name on it and Attunements. The rest of the page filled up with a list of classes and times. "It seems like you've got a bit of time before your first class. It's never too early to start studying."
"Thanks..." She says as he hands her, her schedule.
"Since you're new to all of this, I feel at least I can leave you with this last bit of insight into your new Attunements." Kontos says. "Sun-Atts often find it more difficult to perform magick at night, so try to gear your practical studies to the daytime hours. As for your secondary Attunement goes Air-Atts are most know for their innovation and curiosity. But remember not to isolate yourself when practicing magick. I look forward to having you in class."
She shook his hand before quickly shuffling out of the greenhouse. As she entered the main hall, she instantly spotted Griffin down the hall.
"Hey! There she is! How'd the exam go?" Griffin asks, smiling at her as she approached him.
"Good. I guess..." Rachael sighs.
"Rachael!" Zeph calls from the other end of the hall with Shreya trailing behind him. "Holy- You're Griffin Langley. A sophomore and the Thief team's star player! I'm Zeph, short for Zephyr."
"Nice to meet you." Griffin laughs.
"Yes, Yes, we're all friends now. Blah, blah, blah." Shreya says, before taking both of Rachael's hands busting with excitement. "So? What's the verdict?"
"I'm a Sun-Att..." Rachael says, anxiously.
They all just stared at her in silent shock, Shreya's mouth falling open slightly. Griffin was the first to break the silence. "You're a Sun-Att?"
"And an Air-Att, I guess..." Rachael says, biting her lip nervously.
"Two Attunements, huh?" Griffin whistles.
"I know...I can barely even believe it myself..." Rachael asks.
"You are seriously the first Sun-Att I've ever met in my whole life!" Zeph gasps. "Oh man, being a third tier must be so cool! I'm so jealous."
"It's not really that impressive, is it?" Rachael asks.
"Rachael! Sun-Atts And Moon-Atts are just about as powerful as they come. Well, as powerful as you can be these days." Shreya explains.
"You're friends right. It's pretty damn cool. Don't be so modest." Griffin smiles at her.
"Well we should head to class." Zeph sighs.
"Yeah, but we'll all meet up later, right?" Rachael asks.
"Absolutely!" Shreya smiles. "We're all gonna have a fun good bonding night!"
