Rachael headed into her first class, cutting it really close to being late. She slid into the last available seat in the class, groaning audible when she realized her table-mate was the kid that insulted her on her first day.
"Oh, it's you again. The Sun-Att. How impressive." Beckett says with sarcasm.
"What's your problem?" Rachael grumbles. "And how did you know I was a Sun-Att?"
"I have my sources. It's amazing what you can learn from professors during their free hours." Beckett says, observing her carefully. "You don't look very impressive to me..."
"Oh please..." Rachael mumbles, opening her mouth to speak getting quickly shut down by the Professor.
"Excuse me! I'm trying to start a class here." The Professor glared at the pair, whose dispute had turned from angry whispers to a shout.
They both glared at each other before noticing the whole class was staring at them. The teacher cleared his throat before beginning his lecture. "I'm Professor Englund and in this class, you'll learn to perform basic spells based on the eight practical elements: Fire, Water, Air, Earth, Metal, Wood, Sun, and Moon! Can anyone tell me where our ability to perform magick stems from?"
He waited for a moment and when only Beckett raised his hand he decided to target a student personally.
"How about our late-comer? Ms...?" Englund asks looking directly at Rachael.
"Oh uh, Michelle. Rachael Michelle." She says unsure. "And magick is hereditary?"
Beckett laughed at her, trying his best to hide it. He seemed really entertained by the fact that a Sun-Att could be so stupid.
"Not quite, but that's okay! I'm sure Mr.Harrington wouldn't mind gracing us with the correct answer?" Englund says with patience.
"Of course, sir. Magick is innate meaning that we were simply born with it. However, the capacity for magick differs from person to person." Beckett answers with a proud smile.
"Correct, so-" Englund starts before getting cut off by Beckett.
"For example, my capacity is quite high, since I'm a Metal-Att. While the lower their Attunements' capacity is somewhat low." Beckett continues.
"Kiss ass!" Rachael fake coughed, making a few other students laugh in the process, the rest of the class glared at him annoyed.
"That's...correct." Englund nods. "Simply put, every person in this room has the ability to perform most spells. However, the level of difficulty each Attunded can handle may differ. Now, let's not waist any time! We'll start simple today by learning to conjure fire and bending it to our will."
Englund rolled up his sleeves and shook his arms, before closing his eyes and putting his hands together.
"They first step, as always, is to focus. A lack of focus is the number one cause of spells going awry. For the creation of fire, you'll need to imagine a light or heat source and some kindling! It's important to start with a strong, simple base. There's a reason we build up to more complex ideas. Mainly to-" Englund explains getting cut off by Beckett once again.
"To conserve magick and energy by using smaller pieces to achieve the same end. It's a building block method we were taught as children." Beckett says like the little bitch he is.
