Ace pouted as he followed Mikaela through the woods. They had strayed from the path since Ace had been leading them, all she had to do now was find it and then go from there. Ace sighed.
"Mikaelaaaa-"
"Hush!"She hissed. Ace's mouth fell shut. He frowned, watching her in front of him. Mikaela sighed, crossing her arms and looking around. "If you had told me you got lost easily I would've went my own way." Ace blinked at her. She turned.
"Do you get lost easily too?"He asked. Mikaela stiffened. She glanced at him. He chuckled. "It's an honest trait you know, I have it too!" He pointed at himself with closed eyes. She tried to ignore him. He opened his eyes, watching her search for the path around bushes and trees. Ace kept silent. I wonder...if this girl has ever even smiled. "Hey...Outsider." Mikaela glanced back at him.
"My name is Mikaela." Ace nodded at her words, looking down after a moment. She paused and thought about what he could want. When she couldn't think of it, she returned to searching. "What?"
"Why don't you smile?" Mikaela jolted. She turned on him, giving him a surprised look mixed with a glare. Ace noticed and fell silent. She doesn't smile anymore...something must've happened to make her lose that smile. He watched as she returned to searching, trying to get away from the conversation.
"Forced habit."
Is the reason she doesn't smile linked to her not talking? Ace's eyes watched her carefully. He wrinkled his eyebrows. That's interesting. I wonder what could've done it... He grinned to himself, watching Mikaela quietly. She sighed, looking around for the path. She threw her hands up in the air with an annoyed noise. Ace cleared his throat.
"Have you been straight-faced since birth?"He asked her. Mikaela paused, her hands resting on her hips. She didn't look at him as she answered.
"Yes,"Mikaela replied. She looked around. I have to find the path, or we'll be lost forever. This sucks, I'm not good with directions either. Mikaela moved, running a hand through her brown hair. She didn't look like she knew where to go from there. Ace's eyes traced over her, drinking in the sight. This outsider...
"That couldn't be true, no one is straight-faced since then." Mikaela snorted. Her eyes lit up suddenly.
"Ah! I think I found the path!" She took off running in a direction. He frowned. She's something else.

When they finally reached the castle, Mikaela was in awe looking up at it. Ace gazed at her in admiration. She turned to face him.
"So, the Queen of Hearts. What's she like?"Mikaela asked. Ace blinked. He crossed his arms.
"Well..."
"We are so excited to see you, Outsider!" Mikaela was in awe at the queen she now stood in the throne room of. The queen had stepped down from her throne and proceeded to throw her arms around Mikaela, not even hesitating one second. Mikaela blinked at Ace, who stood off to the side, watching with calculating eyes. He still kept his smile on, not bothering to say anything else. It was a little different. The queen pulled away. "Tell us, what is your name?" Mikaela frowned. Ace had said she was eccentric...but I didn't expect this. She returned her gaze to the queen and gave her a troubled smile--that the queen didn't catch.
"Mikaela Hawthorne,"she answered. The queen squealed and embraced her once again, pulling her down to her chest. Mikaela was frozen in place. I don't know what to do.... If I piss her off she could have me killed, right? An image of her own head rolling on the ground flashed through her head. "Ah, my dear! You are pale.... you must bathe with us. Stupid Knight, have the maids draw her a bath immediately." Ace kept his smile as he made an annoyed noise.
