Ace sighed as he watched Mikaela walk down the path--that they'd finally found. She wasn't very talkative that morning. She seemed like she hadn't gotten any sleep at all, though he remembers differently. He followed her towards the Hatter's Mansion, which she could definitely see in the distance. He stiffened suddenly, his smile falling off his face.

"Mikaela-"He began to call out. All of a sudden, someone leapt out, pointing their gun at her. Her eyes went wide in shock. The faceless person clicked their gun. Mikaela stood completely still.

"Drop everything you have--give me all your money!"The person demanded. Mikaela frowned. She sighed. Ace grabbed his sword, prepared to unsheath it. What is she doing? She's in danger and she's just standing there! He ground his teeth. "I said now!" Ace launched forward with his sword drawn. She was frozen in fear as she stood still. Ace pulled her into his arm protectively just as a shot rang out. The bullet bounced off his sword with a loud clang. Ace, who had lost his smile completely, sliced through the person dangerously. Mikaela gaped in shock. Oh my god...he just killed someone. Mikaela fell from Ace's grasp to the ground as he stood in front of her. She sat still on the ground, looking up at him in shock.

This was only the second time she'd ever seen death. Ace turned, wiping his sword off.

"Ahhh, I got blood on it,"He sighed. She shuddered in fear at the memory of what his face had looked like as he'd done that. It was a dangerous look. Ace turned, looking at her. He blinked at her shocked face and then smiled. "What's the matter Mikaela?" He crouched down, gazing at her.

"Y-Y-You just...killed someone!"Mikaela exclaimed. Ace blinked. He looked behind him at the dead body.

"Yeah...Alice freaked out about it to when she saw it happen. That's the way of Wonderland though, and he would've killed you if I hadn't,"Ace replied. He turned, giving her a close eyed smile. "I can be replaced if a bullet hits me, but you'd be hopelessly lost. This game wouldn't be much fun without you." Her eyes swam with tears of fear. She'd just seen murder in front of her. She shook as she sat still on the ground, her heart pounding in her chest. Ace opened his eyes and gazed at her. He blinked. He reached out to touch her and she shrank away from him with a squeak. Ace felt pain in his chest at that, but didn't say anything. His smile slowly dripped off of his face. "Are you scared of me now? Not even Alice was scared of me like that.."

Mikaela stared behind him at the dead body. She gasped in shock as the body shimmered and disappeared, leaving a clock in its place. Ace sighed, moving and standing. He took a bag out of his coat, one stained with blood, and placed the clock that had once been a person inside of it.

"I'll have to take this to Julius,"Ace spoke, placing the bag back in his coat. Mikaela sat still on the ground, shaking. He sighed and turned, looking down at her with a small smile. "Come on, Mikaela, are you going to sit there all day." She swallowed. Is Ace...going to kill me too? She wondered. Her eyes slid to his sword at his hip. If I had wanted to, the person who pointed a gun at me could've been under my command with ease. Ace...just kills his victims. That's a lot less worse than what I do. Ace frowned, noticing her gaze hitting his sword. "Are you really...scared of me?" Mikaela looked up. Am I? She wondered. She gazed at him. Though his eyes--blood red and void of emotion in her view--stared almost straight through her, she still didn't feel like she was terrified of him completely. She looked down and shook her head. He held his hand out, and she took it. "That's good then!" She didn't meet his gaze.

I should just get away from him...he seemed so pure at first, but maybe...this isn't the worst he can do. She released his hand after he pulled her up on her feet. Mikaela swallowed. Death is a lot better than being controlled...maybe I'm the real monster here.
