Marissa was at her locker when she seen Bucky and his best friends talking at his locker. Bucky didn't know that she was standing behind him when she heard him say "It's going to be fun us doing the military life together in different roles."
"Buck?' she said
"Hey Rissa darlin what's up?' he said
"Um I have to go." she said with tears.
"Marissa darlin wait." he said as he chased after her.
She started to walk home since school was over she got to her house and said "Don't let Bucky up." she said as she ran to her room and slammed the door.
Bucky came in through the garage door "Bucky why is she upset with you?' her mom Annabelle said
"I haven't had the chance to tell her that I enlisted with the guys." he said
"Buck.." Annabelle said
"I know." he said
He walked up to her room and went inside. "Doll baby." he said
"Just don't okay. I thought we were on the same page but I guess I was wrong." she said
"Marissa darlin I'm sorry I haven't had the chance to tell you that I enlisted with the boys." he said
"Just leave me alone." she said as she walked out of her room.
She walked out of her house then started to walk towards the park she sat down on the swings and started to swing with her head against the chain as tears fell. Bucky found her he knelt down in front of her "Marissa please don't be mad at me." he said
She walked away and said "I hope you have a great senior year Buck just leave me alone okay."
"Rissa come on don't do this. Don't push me away." he said
She just kept walking once she got home she started to fill out her college applications and then put them in the envelopes with the stamps and said "Here mom put these in the mail tomorrow morning."
"Okay sweetie." she said
"What's those baby girl?' her dad Brooks said
"My college applications." she said as she started to eat a piece of pumpkin pie.
"That's a big stack baby." Brooks said
"Well I'm just ready to be done with high school and experience life." she said as she threw her plate away and fork in the sink and left the kitchen.
"I've missed something." Brooks said to his wife.
Annabelle went through the stack and said "Well I have a feeling that we are about to see a whole new side of our daughter. Bucky hadn't told her that he enlisted she over heard him talking to the boys about it and school and got her feelings hurt."
"Oh.." Brooks said
Bucky was laying in his room his dad came in and said "Brooks said that Marissa handed him and Annabelle a pretty big stack of college apps including some all the way out in CA."
"Yeah well she's mad at me dad." he said as he rolled away.
"Son whatever it is I'm sure she will get over it." James said
"I highly doubt it. " he said
"What happened?' James said
"I hadn't told her my plans and she over heard me and the guys talking about it and she started to cry and ran. Then I tried to talk to her she just kept telling me to leave her alone and that she hopes that I have great rest of my senior year cause she wants nothing to do with me." he said
"James.." James said
"She's been my best friend since we were 2 years old dad. We have been so close and always support each other why can't she support me in this." he said
"I don't know son but you can't let it upset you like this." James said
"I'm tired dad just turn off my light." he said
She avoided him at school when they went back to school the following Monday after Thanksgiving break.
