Chapter 6

On January 10th via c section Marissa gave birth to her daughters she was in her room waiting for the nurse to bring them to her after their baths and measurements were done. Two nurses came wheeling them in and said "Two beautiful girls. One red head and one dark with big blue eyes. Twin B is the oldest she has dark hair do you have their names picked out." 

Marissa swallowed hard "Did you say they .." she whispered

Annabelle said "Marissa baby it's alright it will be easier to tell them apart now. Now do you have names for them." 

She wiped tears and said "Yeah um tt twin b her name is Riley Jane and the other one her name is Savannah Joanne." 

Brooks walked in right at that time and looked at Annabelle when he heard the names his daughter picked out. The nurse said "Did I say something that upset you Ms Carter?' 

"No.. it's just um I um .' Marissa started to stutter and get upset again.

Brooks stepped in and said "The dad.. he has dark hair and blue eyes. She and him are no longer together and he's moved away due to military so she is just a little surprised that they aren't identical." 

Annabelle smiled at her husband for what he just did even though he and her have been at odds lately cause after he saw Bucky almost fall apart he's been on team tell him. The nurse gave her one of the girls and she started to feed Riley and smiled then tapped her nose "Daddy's nose" she whispered but then again she moved the hat and saw that Riley was twin b and she was Bucky made all over and she wiped tears. 

Annabelle kissed her head and said "baby it's alright." 

After she fed Riley she took Savannah from her mom and fed her on the other breast. "You too huh? Daddy must have some strong genes but atleast mama has one that has her hair." she whispered as she noticed Savannah may have her red hair but she was just like her sister. 

Then for the next two weeks Annabelle stayed with Marissa to help her adjust to the girls and heal from her c section. Bucky and Sam were stationed together in Fort Jackson they were on their first deployment. He was on a video call with his mom "Hey mom" he said

"hey honey how are you holding up?' Winnie said 

"I'm doing okay." he said 

"That's good" She said

"Yeah.. um have you heard anything about Marissa?'" he said 

"No quite honestly I haven't seen Annabelle in almost two weeks according to Natalie Annabelle said she and Marissa were taking a vacation together when your daddy asked Brooks about it he said that they went to Florida for a girls trip but why would Annabelle plan a trip for them after Christmas break." Winnie said 

"That does seem odd mom cause anytime they have taken their girls trips it's always been during a break. Did they come over for Christmas dinner like they normally do." he said

"Yeah they did but Marissa didn't come with them. Annabelle said she had the flu." Winnie said

"That's probably why she post poned the trip cause she was sick." he said as he looked down then said "Mom do you think I made a mistake. I mean I know I broke a promise but I don't know I feel like I made mistake." 

"James honey you didn't know that you were going to change your mind but the thing is Marissa has always hated the military stuff she's never been a fan of all the moving around and having to make new friends and you use to feel the same way but then when we got stationed here and you made friends with Steve and Sam then Clint you had friends but all Marissa had was you." Winnie said 

"Yeah.. and I go and leave her mom." he said 

"James honey it's going to be okay." Winnie said 

"Yeah mom." he said as he hung up the call. 

On Valentine's day a month later Bucky had flowers sent to Marissa's parents house with a card. Brooks brought them over when he came to see the girls and said "Bucky sent you these." as he sit the vase of red and white roses.

"But I thought he was on deployment." She said 

"Honey we can still send flowers from over there I did it all the time" Brooks said

She let out a small laugh and pulled the called. "Happy Valentine's day best friend I miss you like crazy I wish you would talk to me this is hard without you by my side. For the first time I'm here without you to talk to when I'm scared or lonely. Marissa baby doll please come back to me I love you I never meant to hurt you. " as she read it she wiped tears. 

"Are you going to talk to him now." Brooks said as he held Riley.

"Dad please don't." she said

"Honey I know why you chose Riley and Savannah. Fort Riley is in Kansas that was the first army base we met the Barnes family at then we got moved to the army base in Savannah GA and they were with us then too. Me and James became best friends as well as batallion leaders together we were always transferred together." Brooks said

"Dad I know that. I also know why I chose their names but that doesn't mean that I'm just going to up and change my mind. Why can't you get it I hated being moved around." she said 

He looked down at Riley and said "Okay fine." then put Riley in the swing and he left. 

She looked down then started to cry then threw the card across the room. She started to make the girls some breast milk bottles then propped both of them up on her legs and started to feed them. Bucky was laying on the cot in the barracks when Sam came in and said "hey man." 

"Hey." he said 

"Just another month and we get to go home." Sam said

"Yeah nothing like spending your 20th birthday on deployment." he said 

Sam chuckled and said "Yeah."
