Far Away

Chapter 7

The next morning Marissa got up early even though it was a Saturday she fed the girls then once she got them changed and napping she started to clean her apartment. She was picking up all the trash till she found where the flower card landed and laid it on the coffee table. She started some laundry ate some breakfast she fed the girls again and then had them sleeping in their swings. She started to fold the laundry she kept looking at the flowers the card and the girls as she bit her lip then sighed. She finished up what she had left to fold then went to take a shower got herself dressed then packed the diaper bag.

She changed the girls and bundled them up the best she could since it was cold out. She packed both girls down to her car then drove over to her parents house. Brooks opened the garage door for her then closed it. "Well this is a nice surprise." Brooks said

She swallowed hard "Daddy I um help me."

"Help you with what?' he said 

"I need you and mom to help me tell Winnie and James soften the blow that I've kept it a secret I mean I know they are only a month old but I don't want anyone mad at me." she said 

"That's my girl." he said as he hugged her.

Annabelle came out and said "What's going on?'

Marissa starts to tell her mom what she wants to do then Brooks said "You go over there Annabelle and explain the beginning then I'll help her bring the twins." 

"Okay sounds like a plan." Annabelle said as she goes inside to put her shoes and coat on. 

Annabelle walked across the street and knocked on the door. "Hey Annabelle how are you?' James said

"I actually I need to talk to you and Winnie is she home?" Annabelle said

"Yeah she's in the kitchen." James said

Annabelle follows him in. "Hey Annabelle." Winnie said

"hey guys um I need to be honest with you all about something." she said 

"Okay." James said

"Um Marissa.. the real reason why Marissa came home isn't cause she was home sick." she said

"What?' Winnie said

"um were you aware that little James and Marissa slept together on Prom night." Annabelle said

James said "I knew he told me about both times" 

"I wasn't aware." Winnie said

"Okay well Marissa when she was getting ready to leave for NY I noticed that she hadn't had her monthly thing cause we are on the same cycle. Um I made her buy a test when she got up there and well she called me when she did she was bound and determined to be little miss independent. But um then she went to the doctor a few weeks later and she um she told me that she.." Annabelle said just as Brooks and Marissa came in.

"She was pregnant with twins and we made her come home cause she was going to need help." Brooks said

"But she didn't want you all or little James to know cause she was hurt that he broke his promise to her and she was trying to protect them from the life they had growing up." Annabelle added.

"Hi James and Winnie." Marissa said

"Oh honey.." Winnie said as she walked over to the girls that were in their car seats on the counter top.

"They are a month old um this one is Riley Jane and this one is Savannah Jo both Barnes." Marissa said as she hands Riley to Winnie and Savannah to James.
