It has been a month since Marissa moved back home to VA she stayed in her apartment mainly unless she had a doctor's appointment or class. Annabelle did all of her grocery shopping to make sure that she was eating right for the two babies. She also went with her to her doctor's appointment to find out the gender of the twins.
Marissa was laying on the exam table and the doctor said "Okay Marissa it looks like you are having yourself two girls. "
She smiled and said "Yay."
That night she was laying on her couch rubbing her baby bump feeling the girls move as she scoured through baby names for them. Annabelle called her and said "Just so you know Winnie said that Bucky is going to be coming in for a week long visit then he will be stationed at Fort Jackson in South Carolina."
"Oh..okay." she said as she hung up.
"I'm protecting you two I hope you know that. You don't want that life it's hard and emotional hopefully daddy will understand that or atleast I hope so he use to anyways." she said to her bump.
Bucky landed in VA the next day and hugged his parents. He was happy to be home for a little bit he missed his mama's cooking. After he got settled in he walked to Annabelle and Brooks house and knocked on the door.
"Hey James." Brooks said as he let him in
"Hey Col. um is Marissa here?' he said
"No I'm sorry James she doesn't live at home anymore." Brooks said
"Oh but mom said she came home I thought that meant she came here." Bucky said
"No um we have her set up at a place close to the college she didn't want to stay here with us. You know it's part of that I don't want to be involved in the military stuff anymore." Brooks said
"Oh..um well can you get a message to her cause she's blocked my number and on social media she won't talk to me. Just tell her that I miss her and I really would like to see her before I go to Fort Jackson. I um just I really want to see her she didn't come say goodbye when I left for boot camp I know she's mad and hurt but I didn't mean to sir." he said with tears in his eyes.
"James I know you didn't mean to hurt her but I will get your message to her." Brooks said as he hugged him and said "You need to get some rest you look tired."
Bucky chuckled and said "Well sleeping at boot camp wasn't exactly the Hilton."
Brooks started laughing and said "Yeah don't I know it." as he walked him out of the house.
Brooks waited to make sure he was gone and back inside his house. Then he got in his car to drive over to his daughter's place. "Marissa Bucky came by tonight he was looking for you." Brooks said as she let him in.
"oh.." she said
"Yeah he was on the verge tears baby girl he said that he wanted me to tell you that he misses you and that he would very much like to see you before he leaves." Brooks said
"Sorry dad I'm not doing it. I'm protecting these girls they don't need to go through what I went through and I'm still going through cause I'm still your daughter." she said
"Marissa those are his daughters you need to let him know." he said
"NO DAD! I said no I don't want him involved he chose to go be like his dad so now I will not let my kids be a military brats." she said
"Marissa.." he said
"Get out dad if you don't want to support my decision then get out." she said
"Don't you forget young lady who helps you pay for this place so don't you dare get your attitude with me. " Brooks said
"That's enough you two." Annabelle said as she came out of the bathroom.
"Just go both of you just leave me alone. I hated growing up as military brat you always gone leaving for long deployments why do you think I wanted to leave in the first place I just wanted a normal life for once. We moved around all the time I don't want that for my girls." she said as she went into her bedroom.
Brooks looked down and said "Annabelle she needs to tell him."
"Brooks she's not ready okay just let it go." she said
All week Bucky watched for her from his bedroom he kept hoping that she was going to come to her parents for a visit but she never showed up. He laid on his bed and cried as he stared at a picture of the two of them she was so happy in it as they made goofy faces and he whispered "Oh baby doll I miss you I need to tell you something."
Brooks went with James and Winnie to see him off and he whispered "I'm sorry James I tried she wouldn't budge." as he hugged him
"It's okay..I guess our friendship really is over." he said
"James don't give up okay she just she's not been herself she practically bit my head off when I tired to tell her." Brooks said.
"Thank you sir." James said then boarded the flight.
