Once Marissa got to NY to ease her mom's mind while she was at the grocery store she bought two pregnancy tests with the credit card her parents gave her for gas and groceries and her books. She got back to her dorm unloaded her car then took them she had all 4 of them lined up on her bathroom counter cause both boxes were a double pack. She paced her bathroom even though she wasn't sick she had to make several pit stops to pee on her way up.
Once her timer beeped on her phone she flipped them all over then swallowed hard she was pregnant. She placed her hand on her stomach and whispered "The condom broke." She called her mom to tell her the news.
"Hey mom' Marissa said
"Hey honey did you get everything you needed at the grocery store." Annabelle said
"Yeah I did." she said
"You sound off honey what's wrong?' Annabelle said
"Um I got that test you wanted me to get." she said
"And.." Annabelle said
"I'm sorry for yelling at you cause I'm pregnant." she said as she started to cry.
"Oh honey.." Annabelle said
She wiped tears and sniffled and said "Mom I'm not telling him he broke his promise to me. I don't want that life anymore so please don't tell his parents."
"Marissa that's his kid he deserves to know." Annabelle said
"NO! I don't want to be involved with the military anymore." she said and hung up.
Marissa slid down to the floor and cried. Meanwhile Bucky was still boot camp at Fort Benning in GA he had hoped that his letter would prompt Marissa to write him but it didn't. His mom wrote him a letter and told him that Annabelle told her that Marissa chose NYU and she was going to go to school for psychology. He looked down and hid away the tears he laid down and closed his eyes to sleep.
Two weeks later Marissa was able to find herself a doctor so she was sitting alone in the exam room. The doctor came in and she said "Hi I'm Dr Cooper."
"Hi Dr Cooper I'm Marissa." she said
Dr Cooper started the exam then put the gel on her stomach and rubbed it in with the wand. "Okay Ms Marissa um it looks like you are about 12 weeks pregnant with twins."
Marissa swallowed hard and said "Did you just say twins?'
"Yes I did..you are due in January." Dr Cooper said
"Um how..I don't understand I haven't really been sick or.." Marissa said
"Well you definitely are rounding out here which is normal and every pregnancy is different." Dr Cooper said
"Oh..I knew I had started to put on some weight but I just thought it was because I was eating a lot more but I guess that should of been my first clue." she said
"Honey it's alright.. listen they have some strong heart beats in there. Now that you know you can take care of yourself and them. So come in next month and we should be able to determine their genders." Dr Cooper said
"Thank you." she said as she took the ultrasounds.
After her appointment was over she called her parents now that her dad knew and was less than thrilled that Marissa refused to let Bucky or his parents know about the pregnancy.
"Hey mom dad." She said
"Hey honey how did the appointment go?' Annabelle said
"Um well I'm due in January and I"m 12 weeks along but it's not just one baby it's two." she said
"What?' Brooks said
"Yeah..I'm apparently I'm pregnant with twins. " she said
"Oh Marissa honey what are you going to do now." Annabelle said
"Um just pretend like nothing is wrong and go to orientation cause that's today. And no please stop telling me that I need to tell Bucky and his family." she said
Brooks said "Then I'm out of this conversation."
Annabelle looked down and said "I have an idea baby why don't you come back down here and go to college down here so you have help honey you aren't going to be able to raise two babies by yourself on top of college you can't even get a job cause you won't have someone to watch them."
"But mama.." Marissa said
"No buts we will set you up with an apartment close by so nobody knows why you came back home." Annabelle said
"I just got here." she said
"No buts Marissa you are going to need help." Brooks said
"Ugh fine." she said
"We will be up as soon as we can to help get you moved back down here." Brooks said
"Okay fine." she said
Later that day Annabelle was at officer wives luncheon with Winnie who asked how Marissa was liking NY. "Oh she's coming home she didn't like not knowing anybody but she said that she wants live on her own so me and Brooks are setting her up close to the college."
"Oh wow.." Winnie said
"Yeah she called me today in tears asking if we would help her get moved and bring her back down." Annabelle said
A few days later Bucky got the note where Winnie told him what Annabelle said and it broke his heart cause he knew that she wouldn't be home sick if he hadn't been so stupid how could he forget a promise to Marissa he's never done that before. That following days Marissa and her parents got her moved back to VA and got her an apartment close to the community college and found her a new doctor.
