Saving Clary (A Mortal Instruments and Clace Fanfic)

Chapter 7

Jace's POV

I landed on the hard concrete of center city and looked around, nothing seemed suspicious at all. Everyone was waiting for me since I was the last to go through the portal

"This way." Maryse said, and she began walking towards a rather broken down building.

"It's the demon hideout." Alec, who was now walking beside me whispered in my ear, "practically all the demons that are in this part of New York life here, according to the call."

Fantastic, I thought, conquering the building will take forever if there are as many demons as I think there'll be. We were about a hundred yards from the building when Maryse stopped

"Okay we're going to go in groups of two and three, Robert and I, Jace, Alec, and Isabelle, Luke and Jocelyn, then the wolves divide yourselves up, there are many layers of the building, and there is a stairwell to the right when we walk in. We are going to form a line of the groups, me and Robert will be first, so we will take the first floor, whoever is in the second group in line will stop and take the second level, and so on."

We formed the line and on Maryse's word we charged in. The demons weren't exactly surprised, but they were also unprepared. Alec, Isabelle, and I were the second group, (only because we didn't want to run up so many flights of stairs) so when we got to our level the demons were slightly more prepared then the first ones.

There were only about ten demons on our level, Izzy launched herself at the first demon, whip extended, going for the kill, Alec turned around and took the three coming up behind us, I followed Izzy, and took on four that were all coming from the right corner. I leaped off my left foot, seraph blade extended and swiftly stabbed the first one where it's heart should have been. I then turned around with a dagger in my hand and rolled under a demons legs, I came to a stop and flipped backwards, my feet connecting with its face,, bringing it down instantly. On my feet now, my back turned so I didn't see the demon on the grounds face while I brought up the dagger in my hand and dropped in into the demons stomach. Retrieving the dagger I turned and threw it at the demon against the wall, however i missed the shot to the right and it sunk into the demons arm and wall pinning it there. 'You're knife throwing skills need some work however.' I shook my head to clear it of Castors voice as the fourth demon lunged at me, claws extended. I quickly ducked under its attempt, but forced my seraph blade up as it was jumping over me, catching it in the stomach. I took my time standing up, and casually walked over to the pinned demon with my seraph blade spinning in my hand. Just as I was about to plunge the blade in the demon said:

"You're all idiots every single one of you."

This made me freeze for some reason and I looked at it in bewilderment, but quickly changed it to amusement

"And yore not?" I responded

"Not as idiotic as you, this whole 'mission for you guys, it's all a set up." He snarled

"What do you mean?"

"Oh, I don't know, maybe it was a distraction to, give my summoner more time with your kidnapped friend, he now has the lead on you rather then you being hot on his tail like you would have been if you dim-witted shadow hunters could see past your own glory of saving the day."

He was right, there was no doubt that he wasn't, whoever kidnapped Clary had set this up before so that rather then finding Clary right after she was taken, we would take double the amount of time to find her...and they have double the amount of time to torture or question her.

Furious, I plunged my seraph blade into the demons sternum, but ever as he died, his face was set at a devilish smirk.

I turned around to see Alec and Isabelle finish off the last demon, I walked over to them, but they immediately knew something was up. I told them everything the demon had said, then I told them what I told Simon to do while we we're gone.

"Shit!" Isabelle screamed, her face now white and strained, "We need to get back to the Institute...now."

Hey guys sorry for another short chapter, but with school starting it's harder to find time to update everyday with decent length chapters so I'll let you guys know what I'm going to do about that, but OH MY GOD IT WAS A SETUP!!
