Jace's POV

"Clary!-" I begin but her eyes close and her head slumps back against the wall.

"Shit" I mutter, I press my hand to the bandage over Clary's leg and it comes back bloody. As carefully but quickly as I can I scoop her up into my arms and run fast to the infirmary. She whimpers in my arms, and although I should feel worried at the sound, it gives me hope that she is still somewhat conscious. I finally get to the infirmary and place her down on the unmade bed. She has already gone pale, and sweat glistens on her forehead. I tear away at the bandage on her leg, underneath was not pretty. I needed Maryse or Magnus, I couldn't do this myself.

"Maryse!" I scream. No answer. After a minute I try again:

"MARYSE HELP!" Again nothing, I'm panicking now. Clary's breaths have become shallower and shallower as her chest rises and falls faster every time. I pull out my phone and dial Magnus' number. It rings and rings but he doesn't answer.

I try again growing more impatient by the second. This time he answers on the third ring.

"Hello?"

"Magnus you need to c-" I begin urgently but am cut off.

"Jace this really isn't a good time call me again in like twenty minutes."

"No wait Magnus I need you now!" But he had already hung up on me.

"No, no no no no." I mutter, I try and call Alec now, no doubt he is with Magnus. He answers on the first ring.

"Ale-" I try

"Jace I'm with Magnus, were in the middle of something, call us back later." And with that he hangs up.

I punch the wall infuriated, leaving a dent and bloody knuckles. I lean over Clary trying to figure out what to do. I'm in so much pain seeing her like this, I feel like my minds going to explode. Her head is turning side to side , and her eyes are squeezed tightly shut. She's having another nightmare. I decide to draw a peace rune on the back of her hand, and her breathing slows. Now back to her leg. Why can't iratze's just work, this would be so much easier if they did. After a minute of thinking, and coming up with no ideas I decide to try one more call.

"Come on, come on. I mutter irritated by the wait of the rings. Finally on the fourth one she answers.

"Hey Jace can I call you back Simon and I are a li-"

"No Izzy listen to me!" I yell cutting her off.

"Clary's leg is bleeding really badly, she passed out and is now incredibly pale! I need Magnus here now!"

What I had said snapped Izzy into reality

"Did you try calling him?"

"Of course I tried calling him and Alec! They both hung up on me before I could tell them what's going on! I need you to get to Magnus' and get their asses over here now!"

"Got it I'll be as fast as I can." She says and hangs up. I turn back down to Clary she looks peaceful now that the rune set in. I feel a tear roll down my cheek but I quickly wipe it away. I just don't get it what did she ever do wrong to deserve all of this. Her psychotic brother, her power thirsty father, her lying mother, the constant target on her head, everything. Even me, I've hurt her too many times, I know she's better off without me but I'm too selfish, I can't live without her.

Clary turns her head to the other side and a troubled look comes across her face. By the angel even when she's dying and asleep she's the most beautiful thing I've ever seen. I finally stop my pacing and carefully move her to one side of the bed. I slide in next to her but I stay sitting up and lay her head on my chest. All I can do is wait and hope Izzy can get Magnus here fast enough. It's the worst feeling in the world to just sit around while someone you love is dying but there is nothing you can do about it.

After the ten longest minutes of my life Izzy and Magnus come running into the infirmary. I glare at Magnus as he makes his way over, and I know he notices but he doesn't acknowledge me. He presses down on Clary's leg causing her to let out a yelp that breaks me and strikes my heart.

"What do we do?" I ask.

Magnus shakes his head in disappointment before replying.

"From what I see her leg is trying to heal itself in anyway it can but it isn't healing correctly just like if you leave a broken finger broken it will heal in its broken shape. If we were to let her leg heal like that she would be in pain every time she walked, and the wound would never really close up, it could start bleeding externally or internally at anytime."

"So what do we do?" I ask again.

"Right now it looks like we have to re-stab her leg and stitch both sides of it as best we can to have it heal properly."

That isn't exactly what I wanted to hear, thighs are the most painful spot to be stabbed or cut in because of the amount of muscle it includes.

"Are there any other options?" Isabelle asks quietly

"At this moment I'm afraid not, not only do we need to stop the bleeding, but we need to fix the healing process, if it was only one it would be easy but it's both."

"But if we re-stab her leg won't it bleed even more?" I point out.

"Not if we leave the blade in the leg while I reposition it, then when ready we can pull out the blade, clean and stitch it."
I sighed this was the only way to save her at the moment, we had to do it.

"Ok let's do it." I stated Magnus nodded and went to get the materials we needed, and Izzy looked dazed like she was going to be sick to her stomach, and I wouldn't be surprises if she did.

Magnus came back with all the medical supplies we needed and a seraph blade. He set everything down on a table and turned to me holding out the blade.

"You need to do it."

At first I didn't think I heard him right

"Wait what?" I ask while he places the blade in my hand

"You need to be the one to re-stab the wound."

" I can't stab my Clary! I can't even spar against her, much less put a blade all the way through her leg!"

Magnus seemed un fazed at my conundrum, and continued preparing the tools.

"Fine you have two options; I do it and risk the chance of creating a bigger wound and affecting un torn muscle, or you can do it precisely, and only affect the parts that are still healing.

My silence gave away my answer.

"Good that's what I thought." He said walking back over to Clary's bed. Isabelle and I reluctantly followed him.

"Now on the count of three you need to bury the blade all the way though and leave it there, if you pull it out you could... actually you don't want to know never mind just DO NOT pull it out."

I nodded and looked once more at Clary sleeping peacefully on the bed

"One."

I rose the blade directly above the wound. 'I can't do this' I thought to myself, 'how can I do this?'

"Two."

I closed my eyes tight, 'It's a demon Jace, it's not at all the girl you love and are trying to protect...' Aren't I so positive.

"Three."

Time seems to slow down as I open my eyes and drive the blade down straight through the wound, and into the bed.

For a second theres nothing, no sound, no movement, nothing. Then I see the peace rune I had put on Clary's hand earlier disintegrate right before my eyes, faster then I had ever seen a rune disappear before. Then came the noise.
