ch.13 i promise you'll be okay

( Johnny's pov )

We got on the train and pony was sleeping on y/n's lap, she was stroking his hair to help him. It was quiet the whole train ride, she didnt say a word. I was still wondering why darry would hit her, i might as well ask." Hey y/n "," yes johnny "," why did darry hit you " i asked. She stood silent then took a breath," after i said that i would come back, we went to pony's house  to drop him off. I went inside to tell darry about why he was home late but he completely ignored me and shouted at ponyboy saying he needs to take responsibility like a man. I got mad and shouted back at him, pony's still a kid and even if he is 14 he doesn't deserve to be nagged at for every little thing he does. Then he started to shout at him again so obviously i shouted back then outta nowhere he hit me". A tear rolled down my face," ya'know before i meet y'all my life has been shit. Just shit.  But then you guys came along and made my life better. Thank you you guys and i promise everything will be okay. You will be okay".

Johnny scooted closer and hugged me " i love you guys " i said," and we love you to ". I kissed johnnys head and wrapped my arm around him " go to sleep i'll keep an eye out " i said. He nodded and put his head on my shoulder. I was looking out for a couple of minutes until i saw windrix vile. The boys were asleep so i picked them up and jumped off, i landed on my feet and looked for jay mountain. I found it and started to walk up, the church was there so i walked in. I put pony and johnny down on the benches and put my jacket on johnny. My backpack had money in it so i was gonna go buy groceries for us. I pulled out the fire blanket and put it on pony so he wouldn't get cold. This place was dusty and probably gonna get one of us sick, i kissed ponys head and walked out.

( Ponyboy's pov )

I woke up inside a dusty place that looked like a church. Johnny was still asleep and i couldn't find y/n anywhere. I noticed that a blanket was on me and y/n's backpack was on the floor. Noise was coming from the back so i went to go check it out, it was y/n and she had her hair cut and it was ( any color ). She was humming a song so i couldnt help but listen," i know you're away ponyboy " she said,( damn it ) i walked over to her," so whats all this about " i asked.

"We gotta change are identities so we wont get caught , which means you gotta cut your hair " after she said that i backed up," do we have to " i pouted. She nodded so i sat on a step so she could cut it. When she was done she told me to bleach it so i did, i looked at myself in the pond and frowned. I went back to check on y/n and i found her with a scar across her cheek that ended to her bottom lip." What the hell are you doing "," making my self a whole new person " she said. She put wraps on her head to cover up her scar completely," lets hope dally can still recognize you " i said. She grabbed a broom and chased me with it now all we had to do was wait for johnny to wake up
