ch.14 the last thing i'll ever do

4 days have past and we completely changed our identities, i look like a new person and the boys look younger. It was night time and johnny was a sleep and me and pony were playing cards. I won and pony sighed in defeat," so when are you gonna tell him " pony asked. I knew what he was talking about, i just shrugged " i dont know mabey when all of this blows off " i said. He leaned closer to me " you might as well tell him tomorrow before someone else gets a shot ". I pushed him back and organized the cards.

"I'll start sweeping "he said, i smiled and kept organizing," ya'know y/n you never told us what was your hometown like ". I stopped and turned towards him " what?!"," your past you never told us " said pony, i put the cards up and sat on a bench " i just thought you didn't need to know " i said. He layed down on my lap " please ", a smile grew " sure why not ". I picked up the fire blanket and put it on him " my hometown was hell but sometimes heaven, on the streets everyone knew my name, i even had a gang of my own"," really ?!"," yea i did and everyday i still wonder how they're doing. Many little kids looked up to me they said i was some sort of superman. And they gave me a name y/n the rebel a fierce leader that never gives up . Thats where i got the name from, hell we even went against the mayor " i said, pony had a glimpse of happiness in his eyes " no way ". I nodded " its true so many kids wanted to goin my gang but i couldnt say no. And i did that all when i was nine my gang"- i stopped cause i heard snoring then i looked down and pony was asleep." The next day

I felt a hand on my head so that woke me up, i opened my eyes. It was dally , i sprung up and hugged him " dang doll you changed a lot " he said. That made me smile, i did miss him and it was nice to see him again. Pony woke up and so did johnny, " well good morning lazy asses " i said. Pony just snickered and johnmy got up " hey dal"," hey johnny cake ". Johnny and dally had there own conversation while me and pony were folding up blankets. I put em in the backpack and put it on my back," oh reble you got a letter " dally said. I took it and read it

Darrys sorry for hitting you and when he heard about you and the guys in the papers he couldnt sleep for days. Dally wont tell me where you are so please  be safe and take care of the boys

I smiled, i had forgiven darry yesterday and i knew he was stressed so it didnt matter. The boys were looking over my shoulder so i stuck up the middle finger to them. They turned away quickly and i laughed," you guys wanna get somethin' to eat im starving "." Yea lets go ". We got in a car and dally was driving, i put on my seatbelt cause i knew how much of a reckless driver dally is. We stopped at a dairy queen and got a couple burgers and some cokes.

I saw from the mirror of the car a man walking towards our car and my eyes widened. It was my dad and he got outta jail, he came up to me and rest his arm on the door " excuse me miss can i just tell you that you look similar to my daughter " he said." Your who "." My daughter she lives in Oklahoma in tulsa and you look like her "," what does your daughter look like " i asked." Like a sank " then he broke down laughing and walked away, i looked down." Hey whats wrong " pony asked me, i didnt want to talk so i asked dally if he could take me back to the church.

When we were almost there i saw smoke and, it was coming from the direction of the church. I stood up and saa that the cruch was on fire, i grabbed the blanket and jumped out, a man, a lady, and children were there. I asked the lady what happened and she said a frie started and children were inside. I took a couple stepsback and saw that the church was gonna collapse soon if the fire spreaded even more. I wrapped the blanket around me and rammed the door, i saw pony and johnny following me but i didnt waist time. Screaming was coming from a corner so i went and saw children. I kicked the window out and put one child outside, then more after the next.

More screams were coming from a closet so i went there. More kids were here," okay kids i need you to come under the blanket and i'll get you outta here ". They nodded and got under the blanket, i brought them to pony and johnny and we got them all out. The church was gonna crumble so i grabbed ponyboy and threw him out and johnny to. I heard dally scream but it was too late the church was gonna collaps and i was still inside, i ducked and put the blanket over me so i wouldnt get burned. Pressure came on my back but it was nothing i couldn't handle, i slowly got up and smelled fresh air. But my vision was blurrie so i couldnt see well i was stumbling and i soon saw sunlight. I started to walk but i fell and i celt something lile arms catch me but it wasnt long before i blacked out.
