Soarin's POV
It was the next day we we were all inside the gym and getting ready for the match, and everypony was all exited about it.
not me...
Our captain is one of the judge and so was the general, icy. They were both on the top so they could see everything below. I admit though the tense in the atmosphere is so high!
"eeeikkkk gooooddlucckkk guyss!!!!" surprise yelled
"I'm so nervous" I muttered
"Oh by the way, soarin" thunderlane looked at me then grinned, "How's the talk with the captain yesterday?" he teased,
I almost choked and said
"hey! We just talked like normal ponies would do"
He laughed and said
"surreeeeee"
"why what happened?" spitfire asked
" 'they' happened" wave grinned, every pony looked at me and 'ooo'ed
My ears went down and glared at them both.
"Nothing happened between me and the captain, we were just talking normally. And that's all" I spoke
"for how long?" Rarity asked
"Eh, couple of minutes" I replied.
I earned a lot of grins from them. Did I say something wrong?
"Dang, the captain must be interested in you too" spitfire laughed
"What do you mean?" I asked
"Its not everyday the captain talks to you without any work relations, she must care about you" fleet foot grinned,
uggghh why does everyone think I'm interested in her!?! I don't!!!
"Oh shut up you all! You're all a big troublesome" I looked away then they laughed,
"what's so funny?"
We looked to who's direction it was and it was general Icy.
"Sir" we saluted
"get ready newbies, it's about to start any minute. We'll just wait for the captain" he spoke and we nodded then he flew away.
"Speaking of the Captain since when did you start to like her???" rapid fire asked
I growled and yelled, "Fuck! I don't like her!!! Why can't you get that!!!!!"
"don't like whom?"
We turned around and oh shit....
"Captain!" we saluted.
Everyone saluted as well and the place became pin drop silence...
"Are all the newbies here?" she asked
She was waiting for an answer and I just assumed some pony would instantly reply but I guess that's what they were thinking too...
They then looked at me as if I was gonna answer...
"Well?" The captain asked impatiently
"Uhh... Yes ma'am" I replied,
She raised a brow then walked ahead.
Weird.... She wasn't so cold yesterday...

No one's POV
The fight started and the newbies went to their line, Rainbow and the general flew down and yelled
"Welcome to the den! Hope you prepared for this, this test isn't like any other! This test will tell who really has the guts to be a part of the 1st squad!"
Note: 1st squad are members with the highest potential and skills. (also gets the best dorms XD)
They cheered and the test started!
Back at soarin's POV
Each recruit gets a turn the first obstacle so the captain announced that it will be by pairs and I was thanking the Saints for this.
I got paired up with Wave and it's luckily too, I'm still not close to any new recruits and who knows what attitude they hold.
We watched the first few pairs go on and so far only a few made it. When it was almost our turn I was half freaking out in my mind.
Wave elbowed me and said,
"Come on, quit the act I know you missed obstacles" he winked, I looked at him confusedly
"what do you mean?"
"don't play stupid with me soarin, I know your fighting skills are still in there, think about it. Don't let a horrible past get in the way of your true spirit!"
I looked away and spoke
"wave you know I hate it when you talk about... "
"Soarin, I'm not doing this because I want to have a good performance.. I mean yea I do but... I'm just worried for you as a best friend. Tell me soar, does your past really define you?" he spoke,
I looked up then faced with a serious face and answered.
"No.. "
He grinned and said, "then show everypony what your really capable of!"
Rainbow's POV
It was soarin and wave's turn and I think I just hit my head or something... They were facing the obstacles as if it can be done by a foal!
"Uhh captain" icy spoke,
"What?" I asked,
"Its surprising to see somepony's catching up" he chuckled
"true.. " I said gladly
The following challenges followed and in my observation it seems like the harder the challenge gets, the more easy it becomes for soarin.
Huh guess some pony finally gave him a word of a reason.
The last challenge/test came and it was the one on one competition, and I made the choice to whom their fighting against at.
Get ready cause it's going to be a hell of a night!
